Beckendorf's POV
I woke up with Silena's warm little hands locked around my waist, apparently still unwilling to let go of me, even in sleep. I subconsciously stroked her long, smooth hair, thinking. What if I hadn't made it? How would everyone take it? My mother, Silena, my friends-what would they do?
My train of thought was abruptly derailed at the sight of those bright blue eyes, staring at me. "Hey," I murmur with a yawn. "How'd you sleep?"
"Terrible. All my dreams were of you." Silena replies with wide, scared eyes.
"Isn't that a good thing?!?" I gasp, with fake hurt in my voice.
"Oh but it wasn't you! Well, not really. You were... I don't know. Just... dead? You were talking to me from where I think was the underworld." She cries, the fear evident in her voice.
"Hey! Don't worry," I whisper reassuringly. "Its gonna be a while til I end up there."I look down at her, brushing the hair out of her eyes only to find them closed. "Sweet dreams this time, kay?" I whisper in her ear, barely audible. I smooth her hair and brush the top of her head gently with my chapped lips. The corners of her mouth turn up slightly. "There you go pretty girl."
