February 14. Many years later.
She sat quietly on a wooden bench across from the bridge. She wore a plain cotton white dress and an ocean blue pearl necklace. She waited patiently for him to cross. It was finally his time.
She had watched over him throughout the years. She knew she did the right thing all those years ago. She knew he would be alright without her. He had his wife. They had lived happily with their three children; Thomas, Juniper, and Willow, such lovely names they chose.
Although she was happy for him and his family, her heart still ached in pain. The burning feeling crept inside her as she had watched them enjoy themselves below.
That was then and this was now. He was finally going to cross. She had waited centuries for this moment. No more waiting. They could finally be together, without his wife in the way.
She turned her head towards the bridge once more. A boy stood there. Brown hair, blue eyes, and a glistening smile plastered on his face. His wrinkles and gray hair had disappeared into thin air and a beautiful young teenager replaced him.
The figure started to appear closer to Aeka. She stared at him, watching as he stepped closer and closer to her.
"Aeka!" the voice called. It sounded younger than before when she watched him.
Looking up, her eyes flickered to the blue eyes staring straight at her.
She stood up.
It was him.
The bridge had given him the gift of youth. No more wrinkles and gray hair. No more raspy deep voice. No more bags. No more of his older self.
"Oden." Aeka whispered, almost inaudible.
The boy -Oden- smiled softly and pressed his lips to her gentle ones. Pulling away, he whispered in her ear, "I'm so sorry. I'm such an idiot for letting you go all those years ago. I'm so sorry for waiting so long. I love you Aeka. I love you so much it hurts seeing you hurt. Please, please forgive me."
His words rang through her ears. Her non existent heartbeat pounded against her chest.
"I forgive you." She said softly, a small smile beginning to form on her face.
"Thank you. I love you, Aeka." He told her truthfully. Pulling her into a hug, Aeka replied, "I love you, Oden."
