When we became best friends

Chapter 1

Do you remember when I said I'll always be there? Ever since we were ten..... "Would you quit playing that song already?!" Raina shouted from across the room, it was about the tenth thousandth time her sister Willow had played the song. Willow just grinned at her smugly before ignoring her completely, engrossed in her homework once again. Raina rolled her eyes, her sister was IN LOVE with the song for no reason that she understood.

Sighing, she made herself shut off the music from her ears completely and tried very hard to concentrate on her Chemistry work. The phone that she shared with her sister buzzed. She snapped her head up, frustrated at the interruption, especially when she just managed to concentrate once again. "Who is that?" she demanded, narrowing her eyes at her twin although she already had a feeling who was it. "Chill Raina, it's just Zack," Willow shrugged, giving her a lopsided grin on the way. "I know who it is, it's just that I can't help feeling that you and him are really getting close," Raina replied easily, too close for my comfort she thought uneasily. "We're just friends," Willow said firmly, a frown starting to form on her face.

"I know, I know! But it's not you..... it's just him....." Raina said, trying to find the words to explain what she meant but failing to. "He's just a friend and he's just acting nice alright? There's nothing to be worried about, it's not like I'm encouraging him or anything like that," Willow said, a little irritated for she was not interested in Zack whatsoever, he was just a good friend-that was all. Raina just kept quiet, there was no use trying to convince her to stop talking to him on the phone, she just wouldn't. What's with that guy anyway, he keeps flirting..... Raina thought, wrinkling up her nose in disgust at the thought of Zack. Zack who kept chasing after girls and who always fails to get them, Zack who tried flirting with her and obviously got rebuffed- badly, Zack who is dramatic, Zack who got a girlfriend and broke up with her after a day. She sighed and shook her head, determined to finish up her work and not let these thoughts distract her.

Completing her Chemistry work, she stretched and smiled- it felt good finishing up work. She turned towards Willow who was busy on her phone.....again. "Hey Willow, finished your work?" she asked, raising one of her eyebrows. No reply. "Willow!" she said loudly, and Willow finally looked up, "What?" Raina gestured at the work in front of Willow and Willow seemed to get the message, "I'm done, and I'm actually promoting our bunnies." Raina looked up at the last part, her face brightening into a smile, "does anyone want to adopt our cute little darlings?" Their two bunnies, Cheer and Lopper had produced a fine litter of five though right now there were only three left. Willow gave her an exasperated look, "I'm trying to promote them Raina, be patient." She looked back down onto her phone, "Oh, and Joshua has set up a Pets group on Whatsapp to help promote them." "That's nice of him," Raina said, looking over her sister's shoulder to look at the phone, frowning when she saw Zack's name on the group chat. "Zack said he plans to adopt one of them," Willow said excitedly, looking up to meet Raina's eyes.

Raina's eyes grew wide and she thought wildly, Zack is not so bad; he is a friend after all..... besides, I may get to see them if I go to his house for a visit sometimes. And he can keep us updated about our darlings, and we are church members after all. He can send us photos every single day! "We'll have to think about it carefully though, we must warn him about all the responsibilities involved in taking care of bunnies," Raina said seriously, though inside she felt exultant that someone would want to adopt the baby bunnies, and not just anyone, a friend too! A friend that they met every week! "Of course I know that, you don't think that I would just give them away so easily just like that just because he's a friend," Willow said, narrowing her eyes at Raina. Raina just shrugged, she just never knows what's going on in her twin's head sometimes. She went out of the room, meeting her younger sister Zoe on the way and making a smart remark, leaving Zoe glaring at her.

Raina decided to go out and meet the family cat Shadow who was a stray before they brought him in and took care of him. He still lives outside though for he loves the outdoor and could never do with being locked all day in the house. "Hey Shadow boy, how are you?" cooed Raina before reaching down to pat him, she sat on the bench on the porch while Shadow rubbed his body against her legs. His silky fur brushed against her and made her feel ticklish, "stop it Shadow and get up here!" she exclaimed and Shadow obeyed. Shadow always understands everything, Raina thought, amazed at this old feline yet again. She sighed, thinking about Willow and Zack, they were certainly closer than before and he was certainly more interested in Willow than ever before. "Why can't the dunderhead see that?" she said to Shadow who only looked up at her with unblinking eyes. Raina sighed, she guessed that Shadow was just as clueless as she was.
