euphoria

noun | eu·pho·ria | yü-ˈfȯr-ē-ə

a feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness

Michael remembers the first person he killed -- his mother. It was an accident, and he couldn't control it. He couldn't control what he did to her. He was sixteen years old when it happened.

At fifteen years old he was told what he was and what his father was. They both were considered monsters, horrible creatures, freaks. Humans later made a name for them -- abnormals. Abnormals were discovered years ago in the 1900s. The government, which was run by foolish humans, sent out other humans that were skilled in fighting and killing to hunt down abnormals. They were called hunters.

Michael's father was a vampire, also leader of a vampire pack. His mother always used to tell him stories about his dad. Unlike his dad, his mom was a completely normal human being. That made Michael half human, half vampire. He had all the abilities of a vampire, but not all the same weaknesses as them. He aged like a normal human, but healed quickly. Not as fast as full vampires, but it was fast enough. Normal water couldn't bring him down, but holy water definitely did the job.

His dad left when he was ten years old, six years before the incident happened. His mom defended Darryl, saying he left to protect them whenever Michael brought it up.

Apparently, his absence didn't protect them at all. At fifteen, Michael started to have unnatural cravings for human blood. He knew it wasn't normal to crave this. He knew it wasn't normal to cut himself just to get a taste of blood. Once he tasted his own blood though, he realized that it didn't quench his thirst. He wanted more and more.

Michael and his mom never really got into fights, but that day was a special day. His mom was going off at him, saying that he couldn't go to a party. Michael was mad because she thought he couldn't control himself. He knew she hated him, that she was scared of him and didn't trust him.

"You think I'm a freak?" Michael asked Karen.

She shook her head and answered. "Of course not, Michael. I just don't want you to hurt anyone."

"You don't trust me." Michael said flatly. "You never trusted me."

"Honey," Karen pleaded. "Of course I do. You're my son, I love y-"

"Bullshit!" Michael yelled. "Everything you say is bullshit!"

"Calm-"

She was cut off yet again by Michael. "I bet you wanted to send me away, to kill me once you found out that I was a monster."

"You're not a monster, Michael. I need you to calm down."

Michael advanced towards her, eyes red.

"You're not a monster."

Those were the last words he heard from her.

He ran away from home after that. He was suspected for his mother's murder right after he escaped. He had nowhere to go. Luckily, two others, who were also on the run, let him join their crew. The two were named Ashton and Calum. They were also abnormals. Ashton was a werewolf, and Calum was a kitsune. Supposedly Ashton was bitten and turned when he was about thirteen years old. He gave the entire story to Michael one night. He said that his parents were hunters. According to Ashton, they were pretty hated by most abnormals. One day a group of werewolves, that lost loved ones to his parents, tracked them down at their house, ripping his parents throats out. Ashton said he came home late that day and was frozen on the spot when he saw the lifeless forms of his parents. He then was attacked by a wolf who happened to still be at his house. Ashton survived the attack because his body accepted the bite wounds inflicted by the wolf. His body was designed for the bite.
