Chapter 2

When they got home from Taco Bell they weren't welcomed home with a "Hello!" They were welcomed with the screaming of her den mother. When Kennedy walked in the house den mother was yelling at her boy friend through the phone. This happened often for this house hold. They would get in an argument in which there den mother would be yelling and getting drunk.

When there den mother got drunk she became extra abusive. She throw glass beer bottles and would cut them and throw punches for no reason.

When they got home they sprinted down the hallway and up the stairs into Payton's room. She has the biggest room out of the all 4 of us. Every night we would all sleep together. You could say we have separation anxiety from one another. We all function better when we're together too. We all bring out the best in one another.

While the girls were gossiping about people in their school they heard a angry knock on the door. Payton carefully approaches the door and she is approached by their drunk den mother.

Payton says cautiously and quietly: Can I help you with something?

The den mother storms into the room and is screaming. She is telling the girls that they are worthless and need to kill them selves.

Melissa being the protector goes up and yells at the den mother saying "YOU NEED TO BE A BETTER MOTHER THEN WE WILL STOP BEING WORTHLESS!"

When Melissa said that she revived a blow the the lower part of her stomach which causes for her to fall over in a fetal position. Den mother continues to kick Melissa giving her a bloody nose and bruises along her sides.

When den mother finished after 5 minutes she leaves the girls and let's them stay alone in Payton's room.

Callie's rushes to Melissa's needs, while Kennedy is trying to believe what had just happened infront of her eyes. Payton walks over to Kennedy across the room and hugs her telling that she is worried about Melissa but is also confused.

Melissa gets her nose cleaned up and looks in the mirror. She sees a black eye appearing around her right eye. Cuts along her arms from her biological mother tell her that she is worthless.

Flash Back

"No mommy! I don't wanna! Please give me food I'm hungry! I last ate 3 days ago please!" 5 year old Melissa wined to her mother.

Her mother got off of the couch and walks towards Melissa. Her mother pulls out a sharp object from her pants.

Mother: Stick out your arms

Melissa: What are you doing mama?

Her mother drags the sharp object along Melissa's fore arms leaving it to be bleeding.

Melissa bursts out in a high pitched scream. Which cause for her mother to drag the sharp object along her fore arms more.

After her mother finished she was left alone with a bleeding fore arms.

Seeing tissue from under neath the cuts she is able to tell that they are very deep, and might need stitches.

Knowing that her mother wouldn't get her stitches she just cleaned up her arms as well as she could.

End of flash back

Melissa didn't realize that she was crying until Payton came over and comforted her.

That night all of the girls fell asleep on the floor in Payton's room, comforting one another saying that it will be okay.
