Another long day with a seemingly endless shift passed you by as you attempted to close up shop by yourself. Again. After gaining your new crew member, you found his breaks to occurred at the busiest times of day as if just to grind your gears- specifically being rush hour and closing. Though you were finally able to close the register as the last customer left and flipped the OPEN sign to CLOSED as the hour struck 10 PM. Going to put the money left in the register in the back, you heard the bell chime above the door, causing you to groan. "We're closed, come back tomorrow."

"that doesn't sound like any way to talk to a customer." Your new coworker called across the small restaurant, watching you tuck the envelope in the proper place while leaning against the wall. "who rattled your bones, anyway?"

Sighing softly, you went to your locker in the back, knowing that he followed you and was waiting for you to get your things. "I don't know, Sans. It's just been a really long day." You admitted as you gave him a bit of a sad smile, turning back to your locker to grab your coat and slowly pull it on. "I think I've worked every single day this week and I may have had one break today, tops."

"only one break? why didn't you just take more?" Sans asked, almost sounding a bit concerned, yet that almost made you more irritated.

Gently pushing the locker shut, you rolled your eyes before looking over to the skeleton, "There was no one else here to take over for me." You stated a bit accusingly, walking out of the back and shutting off the light. He came out just a second later and closed the door behind him, a sheepish smile on his face as you continued. "I mean, you had seven breaks today. And I think one was an hour long?"

Sans grinned and shrugged, which should've made you more pissed, yet it just made you laugh. Shaking your head at him you both walked toward the door as he replied, "yeah, maybe that was a little too much. i had three times the amount of breaks at my old job, guess i haven't gotten over the habit yet."

You were laughing again now as you both stepped out into the cold, the lights all off as he waited while you locked the door. "You've been working here for months!" You exclaimed, not upset at all, but entirely amused at the skeleton's reasoning. "I don't see why you actually come back sometimes, you may as well just go home."

"but if i did, who would walk you home?" Sans asked sincerely, causing you to stare at him for a moment, your eyebrows furrowed on your forehead as you did so.

About a month after Sans had started working at the restaurant with you, there was a couple who came in and were making small talk with him. Overhearing it, you got wind of a rumor where someone was attacked on the street close by, and ever since that day Sans had offered to walk you home. Of course, this was just a thing that happened sometimes no matter where in the world you were, though you didn't mind having someone to keep you company. Since Sans started walking you home, the two of you were fast friends despite his little to no work ethic always giving you trouble.

"I guess you're right." You admitted, smiling softly before turning in the direction of you house and started to walk that way. Shoving your hands in your pockets, you looked beside you at Sans, not helping but to poke fun at him. "I'm not sure what help it is walking with you, I'm pretty sure no one is going to be intimidated by a chubby skeleton."

He looked back at you with a grin and you were sure then that a terrible pun was coming, he made the same face before each one. "i'm not chubby, just big boned." Also, like normal, he then winked, obviously way too proud of himself.

Throwing your head back laughing like a kid, you finally managed to say, "Wow, that was awful. Guess I walked right into that one, though."

After a minute of two of you walking in snowy silence, you realized just how much your feet hurt after being on them for nine hours. You groaned softly as you knew you still had a bit of a way to go, and then had to get up early to do it again tomorrow. "what's up?" Sans asked, hearing your sound of complaint.
