"Hey, Stephanie, I need to ask you something." I asked as she got into the car. We had just left the doctors office, she had missed her period for 2 months. She was worried she might be pregnant, thankfully the tests came back negative.

"If this is about actually trying to have a baby, forget it. I don't want to deal with that yet." She was in a snappy mood. I took a deep breath and said, "Actually, it's not about that. It's about the drugs, where does Grace get them?" She looked at me as if I had slapped her.

"Where does she get the drugs?! You're asking me where she gets them? Are you not at all concerned about my well-being, I've missed my period and am not pregnant Sebastian. And you are worried about where my best friend gets her drugs? Are you that low?!" She was furious and started to open the car door.

I stopped her, "Baby, please. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound heartless, it's just that has been bugging me for a while. Maybe it has to do with your lack of menstrual cycles." I shrugged sheepishly.

She began to sob uncontrollably. "Oh, I'm sorry Steph. I didn't mean to upset you. Here, let's get you home"

She stopped sobbing and looked at my face, "You don't understand. I lost the baby. I was pregnant, Sebastian. I was pregnant with your child! Our child! And I lost it. I lost it because of those God damn drugs. So please, ask me again where Grace gets her drugs, because I sure as Hell would like to know."

I was stunned. I started to open my mouth to speak, then closed it. I grabbed Stephanie into a bear hug, holding her head to my chest. "I love you so much darling, I'm so sorry. You're right. I didn't know."

"I think we should get help. I want a family with you some day Sebastian. If we keep doing shit we'll never be able to have one."

"You're right, you really are."

She pulled away and looked at me, with tears in her eyes. Even when she cried she was still the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen.

"I want to go home now, Seby. Please take me home."

I kissed her cheek, "OK baby. Let's go home."
