"Name?"

"Chloe Foster," I said, my breath shaking. The woman in front of me scribbled it down.

"Age?"

"17, ma'am," I said.

"How long have you been in the band?"

I rubbed my palms on my jeans, hoping to get the sweat to stop. "Since 6th grade."

She nodded and scribbled that down too. "Instrument?"

"Clarinet," I stated confidently.

She scribbled that down and looked up at me and smiled. "And now for the most important question: Did you go to band camp this past summer at your old school?"

I nodded my head and she smiled, taking the paper and putting it in a folder. "Well Miss Foster, we would be honored to have you in our band," she said, sticking her hand out in front of me.

I gladly shook it and stood up.

She dismissed me from her office and I left the band room, ready for the day to start. Since the incident a few minutes ago with Brayden and the door, I came immediately here to talk to the band director. Now, I'm waiting for the first bell indicating I can go to first period. Today is only a half day and it seems like it's taking forever to be over.

I stood outside the band room with my back against the wall, holding my schedule and combination in my hand.

"Hey!" Someone yelled, catching me off guard. I looked up and saw no one, ignoring it immediately.

"Hey!" They yelled louder. I looked up to see a girl in skinny jeans and a black hoodie running towards me. "Only band kids are allowed to be in or outside the band room door!" She said again. She was shorter than me and she had short blonde hair and glasses.

I scrunched my eyebrows. "Uh, I was talking to the band director. I'm new here, obviously, and I was talking to her about joining the band. And she approved," I said, smiling. The girl's eyes widened.

"What do you play?" She asked with excitement.

"Clarinet," I said, smiling.

The girl started jumping with excitement. "ME TOO!" She yelled. "My name is Samantha by the way. Samantha Ramsey."

"Nice to meet you, Samantha," I said, sticking my hand out. She shook it.

As soon as I let go of her hand, the bells went off, signaling it was time to go to first period. She smiled and turned away, going down the hall. I looked at my schedule:

First Period- Math Honors
Second Period- World History and Geography
Third Period- Lifetime Wellness
Lunch
Fourth Period- Fall Band

I folded the paper back and made my way to the stairwell, making sure not to hit anyone with the door. I went up the stairs and down the hall, then turning to the right.

I walked down the hall until I saw the classroom. I pushed open the door and saw about 15 people already in there. I walked to the center back of the classroom and down the row, soon picking a seat and sitting down.

No one really seemed to notice I was there, so I picked up my phone and saw I had one text from Kassidy:

"Dude, we don't even have any classes together this semester. THIS SUCKS!!"

Soon, another bell rung and I put my phone away. In came a female teacher, about 50, into the room and she smiled at us.

"Hey guys! My name is Mrs. Wright and I will be your math honors teacher for the semester," she said, putting her bag down.
