I was nine years old then, a baby in angel years, for angels live forever, when I heard the news. I was walking down the silent dark corridor, with its dark purple diamond patterns and brown wooden trim with cases of old weapons of hero's or belongings to whom are in the bible. Decorating the walls were pictures of angel warriors, and I thought to myself, what chance do I have of being up there? A princess could never be a warrior. I felt a feeling deep inside of me, right then, like a small flame that just had been lit, like a second side of me trying to escape, wanting more. I kept walking as if nothing had happened, and just looked at the pictures as I walked down the hallway. At the end of the hallway was a tall wooden door and hanging above it was the picture of my family. My mother with her light green hair and violet eyes, my father with his silver hair and blue eyes. Then there is me in the center with my silver hair and violet eyes.
I slowly slid open the door and stepped inside. I looked out the window as I walked to his desk. The stars shined every brightly, and moon stayed hidden.
My father's office had bookshelves on either side of the door with a desk at the end of the door with a desk at the end of the room, and a tall chair to sit in. Behind the desk there is a huge window that looks over all the town.
"You wanted to see me father?" I asked.
My father turned towards me.
"Ah, yes I did," He replied, "I have a gift I have been keeping from you a long time, and some news."
My father opened a draw in his desk and took out a small gold box. He slowly and carefully took the lid off. He thoughtfully lifted up a necklace with a silver chain and a half sun charm on it, but the sun was silver. He slowly handed me the necklace.
I held the necklace in the palm of my hand, starring at it, as if expecting it to do something.
"When you were born," My father began, "A bright light appeared, then disappeared quickly, leaving this behind. It means that you and a demon were born at the same time. Therefore you and... this demon... have a certain connection that cannot be explained."
My father waited for all of this to sink in. I thought over everything that I had been told, and felt puzzled by it all.
My father began to speak again.
"This is not a terrible thing, it could be a good thing, just never tell anyone, promise me this."
"But why must I not tell anyone?" I questioned.
"Don't question, just promise me. Do you promise?"
"Yes father I do promise."
"Alright then, you can leave."
I walked out of his office calmly, but when I was out of the room I darted for the library.
~~~~~~Crystal Fire's Perspective ~~~~~~~
I looked out over the balcony as the red water fell over the cliff, with the dead trees decorating the landscape. This was as peaceful as it got down here. It is my eighteenth birthday today, which means I will have my coronation to be a full pledged demon. I am so afraid that I will fail, for if I even have the slightest good nature in me, I fail and will be banished. Everything I have learned led up to this day. But something inside me told me, goodness was in there, somewhere, which in my case is mad news.
