The morning in the forest was calm. Very, very, very calm... One or two birds called out in the lovely light calls. The sky was fairly cloud over Oakleema's huge forest. It was going to rain soon, but for now, it was just a drizzle.
It had been 16 years after The Red Winter. Oakleema had done near to nothing to try and recover from that deathly blow.
Somewhere deep in the forest, a gray animal ran quickly, followed by a red dash.
"SAWYER! You get back here!" Fire yelled playfully.
"Ha ha! Fire, betcha can't catch me!" Sawyer giggled back at him.
Two young foxes charged through the undergrowth. These pups grew up with Ripple, not knowing who their real mother was. Fire and Sawyer raced through the forest. Misty was at the den.
Sawyer in front and Fire was chasing him. This was a game they always played every new season. They called it "Sir Chase-a-lot." The first day of spring had been yesterday, so of course they were playing.
Sawyer was it, and was speeding ahead. Fire tried to keep up, but his brother had a huge head start.
As Sawyer ducked a tree branch, Fire pushed away the leaves.
They loved being in the forest and exploring the nature.
Fire tripped over a root.
"Ha ha! Catch me later!" Sawyer called as he speed along.
"Oh you're on!" Fire yelled back at him.
Sawyer smiled as he took the detour he had found out about just the other day. When he saw the log, rather than jumping over it, he jumped onto it and climbed into the overhanging branch. Sawyer hid himself within the leaves.
Just then, Fire turned to corner and jumped the log. He smirked, and looked around at the grove in front of him.
"You can come out Sawyer, game's up."
Sawyer bit a smaller branch to stop laughing.
Fire looked at the trees intently, and called again, "Sawyer... Sawyer... Come out come on wherever you are..."
Sawyer smiled as Fire looked around the grove of trees again and started out of the clearing. Sawyer was waiting for the perfect time to spring his trap...
"Boo!" He jumped behind Fire and ran off.
"Ga! Sawyer!"
Sawyer laughed and kept running.
His paws pounding the green path, Sawyer shut his eyes. This was a well traveled path, so all the roots and branches have been cut back. He knew it well.
Fire ducked a branch and saw the trail Sawyer was using. He rubbed an old sign and read it quickly.
Thunder Clap Path
1 mile to Trefal
Soon, Sawyer had lost Fire. He smiled, and looked around. He had no idea where he was. He had to get bearings, but he also had to hide from his older brother.
He saw a husky, she was stuck in a tree-trap, it was set by the birds. He smirked.
"And what are you doing in that fair lady?"
She struggled for some time before trying to speak to him.
"Nothing. I was spying for my kingdom when this beast attacked me. And now I'm stuck."
Sawyer rolled his eyes and walked away. He had heard Fire coming.
"Are you doing to leave me here?! Help! Help! Help."
