Fever

It's just another peaceful summer afternoon, George went to the library, leaving only me and Lockwood at home.

Lockwood, with his legs crossed elegantly, sat on the couch in the lounge, flipping through a gossip magazine, his hair smoothed back as always, cool expression ever so handsome, I really lo... No! What the hell are you thinking? Lucy Carlyle, knock it off, he's just your colleague and best friend, like George.

With that, I shook those nonsense thoughts out of my head, blew the hair out of my face and started drawing in my notebook on the kitchen table, it's already full of messy notes and drawings of visitors, apparitions and...Lockwood? I was flipping through my notebook to find an empty space for a new drawing, when I then noticed that on every side of the pages, there'll be at least one sketching of the most handso...damn you, Carlyle*cough* of Lockwood.

Ok, I'm going crazy. I snapped my note book shut, closed my eyes and massaged my temples, hoping to clear my mind, but the only thing that kept on escaping in is Lockwood's sparkly eyes, cheery grin...

"Hey Luce...Luce?"

"Wow who what? Oh Lockwood!"I jerked my head up and found Lockwood staring at me in front of the table, looking worried.

"Are you alright? Luce, you look sick. Your face is so red, you were just muttering something and were giggling at nothing. Are you having a fever?"

He touched my forehead to check, and I think just made me blush and heat up more.

"It's hot Luce, you're definitely having a fever. You need to get some rest. C'mon, let's get back to your room."

He's just so cute. I was too busy looking at him I didn't even notice what he's saying. Wait a sec, did he just say I'm hot? Oh, I thought too much. I felt my face go even redder at that thought.

" whatever." I said, and he helped me to my bedroom.

"Now stay in bed, I'll get you some water, and you're not going anywhere until your fever is gone."And he put the covers on me.

"You sound like my grandmother, Lockwood, I'll be just fine." I chuckled.

"Well, you don't look fine, see? Your face is still red."

I took a breath, ready to respond but he's already hurried out of my room.

"Hey, I'm back"

He came to me with the cup of warm water, I stretched out my arms to take the cup but to my surprise, Lockwood didn't hand me the cup.

Instead, he came directly to me.

"Careful, it's hot."

Then he blew on the water, gently held up my chin, and slowly poured the water down my mouth, little by little.

My cheeks, which kinda cooled down a bit when he's gone, started burning hot.

"Actually, I can do it myself." I smiled.

"Well," He scratched the back of his neck.

"You know, sick people have shaky hands, I don't want you spill anything on the sheets, it's a tough job washing it."

What?! Well...ok.

"It's just water! Even if I do spill something, I can clean it on my own. Come on, your treating me like a baby." But in my heart, I actually liked him doing this.

"Anyway, I'll go and wash the cup, and you go get some rest, see ya later."

"Thank you so much."

"Don't say that, Luce. This is what I should do."

He gave me his widest grin, and then he left , leaving me blushing like mad.

"Ysssssssss"

I whispered right after Lockwood closed the door. He actually cared for me!!!

These days, I was acting a bit strange towards Lockwood, I don't know why. I think I'm sort of, in love? I have no idea. I tried to convince myself that he's just my friend, but at last, I gave up, I really, really like Lockwood.

I didn't actually HAVE a fever, but How could I possibly tell him the truth? Say "my face is just burning and red because I like you"? Embarrassing. So for the next few hours, I was just grinning under the covers, clutching the necklace he gave me, hugging my pillow, rolling around, imagining....you know.
