Midnight Mate

Chapter One

( Avita's Pov)

I wake up to the sound to screeching and loud noises. I wrap my blanket around me with my hair a mess and my eyes droopy as anything, even though I really wanted to just fall back to sleep in the piece and quiet. I walk down stairs slowly, still partially sleeping.

"She haven't found her mate yet Derick!"
"Well maybe she should be out more instead of worrying about her studies and her drawings!"

"You know that can't happen!"
"Well I will make it-"

I rub my eyes and yawned. "Errr hi."
My mother, Dalila took a deep breath and walked upstairs.

Pleasant. None of them are in a good mood.

"Want some food? I can make eggs or pancakes." My father says, trying to lighten the mood.
"Eggs sound good." I nod and hold the blanket closer to me.
He takes the eggs out for the fridge and pan out of the cabinet and start up the stove.

"Dad?" He looks at me after cracking two eggs.
"What's wrong kiddo?"

I take a deep breath and relax my fingers which was clawing into the table.

"Do you think that I'm.......strange."
"Strange? As in weird? Why would you think that?"

"Well I'm the first hybrid, the first witch and werewolf hybrid and I don't think people like me that much."

He turns on the eggs and hugs me.

"It's alright sweetie. You don't have to make everyone else like you. You just have to worry about making yourself happy."

I nod and smile. "Thanks dad."
He nods and hands me my eggs, then he ate his.

After I ate, I turn to go back upstairs. There was a knock at the door and my dad had a worried face on.

I opened the door and one of the Betas was holding a piece of paper.

"I have a message from the Elders."
He unrolled the piece of paper and read.

"We the Elders, proclaim that Avita Walsh, is a danger to the Snow Pack and must be transferred to the Lunar Pack immediately. We shall give time for one to pack her things, and if anyone stops or delays the removal process, we must harm and/or execute the one doing these wrongdoings. Since this child has not been marked by a mate nor proved herself safe to this society, this removal is necessary. Signed Elder Marcus, Elder Patrice, and Elder Olivia."

I stand there shocked and look and my dad, which disappeared somewhere in the house. I take a deep breath.

"Okay. Umm how much stuff am I allowed to bring?"

"Just enough to fill two small suitcases and your red backpack." He points to the school bag, leaning against the kitchen table.

I nod and he walks in. "Only take clothes, items from your parents and nothing else. You will have to remove your necklace that indicates which pack you're in."

I nod and look down. "Can I remove it after I pack up?"

He nods. I grab my backpack and head to my room, which layed two suitcases halfway packed on my bed.

"Thanks for stopping me from packing." I grumbled to myself and added the rest of my outfits in the suitcase, several reading books I paid for, my stuffed bear, my tablet and my magical spell book with one candle for the five colors I have. I had about twenty candles in total, but I only grabbed five because that was all I could grab.

I look down at my necklace and remove it, leaving it on the dresser. I get dressed with the clothes I left out, fixed my hair and carried my two suitcases and my backpack downstairs.

"I left my necklace on my dresser, if you're wondering where it is."

He nodded and guided me to his car, and I placed my stuff in his trunk.

"How far is the Lunar Pack?" I say after I sit in the back seat.

"The Lunar Pack is in Massachusetts, America so several days away."

I nod and take a deep breath. "Here we go..." I whispered to myself.

I get off of the plane, holding my backpack on my back and waiting for my luggage. I spotted two of my suitcases that had my name on it and take it out.

The Beta never said anything else about the Lunar Pack, so I follow my directions and ask for a cab.

I get in, keeping my stuff next to me.

"Where to go Toots?"
"Erm, Brackford Massachusetts. Livelihood road and Suffolk boulevard."

He nodded and drove me to my destination. I waited until he left to keep on walking til I hit the woods.

There a somewhat bulky and hot shirtless guy stood there.

"You, Avita?" I nod and he starts walking ahead of me.

I start to drag my suitcases and fix my backpack as I followed him.

We stopped at a pretty huge house, in the middle of the woods.

"Woah." My eyes widen and look at the outside.

"Don't get used of it." He grumbled and I frowned. I knew he was the Alpha for some strange reason.

I nod and he let me in, with me still dragging my stuff.

"Your room is on the fourth floor. There is no elevator so you are going to have to walk."

I nod and he handed me a key to room 324. I started dragging my stuff up the stairs, trying not to make too much noise.

I reach my room and open it. I got to admit it, it was huge, with its own bathroom, closet, big enough bed for two.

I put my stuff under the bed, not knowing if I should trust them yet and walk downstairs, looking around at the living room.

"Who's the freak?" I flinched and turn around slowly.
"Hi, I'm-"
"I don't care who you are, I'm just wondering who let the witch roam around freely?"

"I was just roaming, and nobody said I couldn't."

She walked closer, but now with her eyes changing from green to reddish yellow.

"Well I'm saying to get back in your room before I snap your neck and feed it to-"

"Ladies, ladies! No need for bickering, especially on your first day Avita." A guy walked up and wrapped his arm around the girl and glared at me.

"This is Rose and I am Ryan." He didn't offer my hand so I nodded.

"Okay. I'm Avita." I said trying to resist the urge to hold my hand out.

He nods.

"Good, but Rose is right. It's 1:30 in the morning and you should probably rest up."

I nod and walk back to my room. I pull out my blanket and bear and fell asleep.

Unknown Pov

I roam around the forest on four legs and smell the air.

"Someone has been here....Someone new. I can't tell if she's an enemy or not but I must not give in the the intoxicating scent of her."

He runs away from the Lunar territory and ran towards the edge of the forest where there is a waterfall.

"Scout! James! The Lunar Pack has invited a weapon. We must destroy the beastling."
