"Ah ha!! You see, I am stronger than you! " I said triumphantly. I was sitting across from Jacob (my friend, not my brother) and I had just won an arm wrestling competition. I smiled, watching his face as he frowned, ashamed of being beaten by a girl. My opinion? I think it is absolutely hilarious."You know your father would be furious to know you are becoming strong. He'd probably lockk you up - thinking you want to be a suffragette" I looked down. No one- not even Jacob- can know what I was considering. He saw my face and obviously thought it was because of my mother. "Oh come on Raven. I didn't mean anything by it. You know that!" he said apologetically.
" No, that's fine. I know you didn't. Also, I trust you won't tell my father of this will you?" I said, arching my brow. "No, of course not! Plus, none of your siblings are here to tell him, Jacob junior is napping and your father is at work so you have no need to worry." He said, grabbing my hand comfortingly, in his strong calloused hands. He was quite strong from working, and this was the first time I had ever even come close to beating him in an arm wrestling match. Thankfully, I never looked strong in the arms and I'm not the best long distance runner, so when I wear trousers around the house it doesn't show. He smiled at me.
I never really realized how handsome he was, I thought.Agh! No! He is my best friend, and he has so many beautiful, more curvy, rich women chasing after him that he could never want me. Also, I can't really seem to be able to picture him with me getting married- in fact, I can't see myself getting married at all!

The next day, at 3:00 on the dot, I was at the secret hiding spot for all the suffragettes, behind the old general store. The woman and her husband are both on the campaign " vote for women " but they can never actually participate because they have 4 children and have both been arrested at least 6 times each. Plus people would get suspicious if the shop was closed early on the day of the riot, which could be really bad for their entire family.
I got there just as the other women started filing in, but I felt a little awkward because I was the only one there not wearing bloomers. One of the women turned to me and said " look at'er, little scrawny thing. You sure you wanna fight?" None of the other women laughed, but I did. A cold, sharp one my mother taught me to do a few months before she died. "What the bloody hell do you think you are doing telling a women just like your self to leave? Don't you need more women? Also, you do t even know me so don't even try to make me leave. It's. Not. Going. To. Bloody. Work." Once I had finished talking, I sighed and looked around. All the other women were just staring at me. I felt really awkward in this deafening silence so I said " well, that was interesting. Why don't we get started?" and all the other women slowly started trickling towards the map.
" Alright, ladies. If you decide you don't feel comfortable doing this, please leave." The leader, Vanessa said. When no one left, she continued "In one hour, we will be in the square, fighting for the vote. Every one here should know the risks. You may get arrested. You may get hurt. But we will win. Remember; no surrender!!" We all cheered. "Okay, here's the plan...."Hey guys!
