Scary Movie Night - short story

You felt Danny's head fall near your shoulder. He looked so cute when he was half asleep. The team was having a little break (excluding Peter) by watching some stupid horror movie that Sam had picked out. For you it was quite cliche, there was a creepy knock at the front door in the middle of the night, the girl opened the door even though it was probably a bad idea and well... there was a zombie at the door and it turns out the entire city has been zombified apart from a few survivors who the girl finds while running for her life. Then they all try and save the world and junk.

Apart from the movie, it was a pretty fun time. Maybe it was mostly the fact that the team were spending some time together and Danny was sitting next to you almost falling asleep and it made your heart beat fast. There were so many thoughts going through your head like, "What should I do?" He was almost leaning on your shoulder.

You kind of knew he felt the same way about you as you did about him but you weren't really sure. "He's shown it a couple of times and maybe I have too but it wasn't really obvious right?" you think to yourself.

The blonde next to you suddenly stirred and you realised he was awake again. "Did I miss anything?" he asked sleepily. You giggled at the look on his face as he said that, "Well, the big dude turned into a zombie, they found a dog, the guy kissed the girl and they went into the bedroom and - - - " "Thank you for the info Bucket head!" Ava interrupted, "Can we just watch the movie?" Luke added.

"Hear hear!" you agreed. The movie went on for another hour with jump scares and vicious zombie fights. It was getting kind of boring until the guy dies, "Wait what?!" you scream internally, "I know it's just a movie but I feel like I'm gonna cry anyway." You let a tear fall down your cheek and leaned on Danny's shoulder for comfort. You can feel that he too, is sad about this unexpected plot twist, not really unexpected but a plot twist anyway.

Suddenly, he puts his arms around you and gives you a little hug. Your insides turn around and your heart beats faster than it was beating before, "Hope he doesn't feel that," you think to yourself. Then you realised, "I don't think I've ever seen him hug anyone before..."

All eyes are on you and Danny and you turn pink. Danny doesn't seem to care much about this and is still watching the movie, "Just focus on the movie," you tell yourself while trying to turn your face back to its original colour and soon everyone else goes back to watching too.

After the movie ends (and it ends well), Sam has conked out on the floor, Ava says goodnight and leaves almost immediately and you and Danny are snuggling together on the couch Luke pulled in earlier to watch the movie. Speaking of Luke... "I'll take Sam back to bed," he says and leaves the room. " y/n..." Daniel says, "I guess... Now's the right time to tell you?" "Tell me what?" you ask quietly, "How I feel - - - " but you didn't hear the rest because you had fallen asleep...
