The girls said Lincoln was fighting to free slaves. That news made me overjoyed but I didn't smile I didn't speak I hadn't sense I had been bought. I found lawyer and fought in court for my freedom. 2 weeks later a man showed up at the door. He said there was a letter for me. The master said she would read it. He said no and handed it to me. Master whispered into my ear to give it to her or she would whip me later. I opened the letter. It said I was free. I handed it to her and said you can't. She was so surprised there was the stupidest look on her face. It made her look less powerful. I was happy to happy.
