My head was covered in a white bandage so I couldn't see anything. Aunt Janet was holding my hand, mumbling something. I heard the sound of the door opening.
"It was successful." Said the soft voice of a nurse. "The doctor will be joining you within a few minutes with the reports. He will give you all the details."
I could hear Uncle Mathew and Aunt Janet's happy exclamations. Aunt Janet kissed my forehead.
Then, the Doctor arrived. "She's completely cancer free. It will take some time for the recovery but she is completely fine. She's lightly unstable so she might pass out during the next 24 hours. Nothing to worry about. The tumor's gone. Congratulations!"
Everything was fine till I fainted that night. But I'm glad that I did because I met you.
"Wind!" I said. "It worked."
"Yes, dear. I know."
"And I am understanding now."
"Yes dear, you are."
"I could only find you on the hilltop because that was when I was actually looking. That was where I truly found peace."
"Yes, dear. That's true."
"You are always there. You're the little voice in my gear and the little feeling in my heart."
"Yes, dear. I am."
"Only I know who you are, as you said. Still, I took your help in guessing because I always knew the answer and you are me and I am you."
"Yes, dear. You're right."
"I believed that incredible things would happen. So they did."
"Yes, dear. That's correct."
"So what actually matters is belief. Belief, faith, love, trust, joy, anticipation, excitement, passion, courage, selflessness, determination, optimism, hope, confidence, affection, devotion and serenity are reality. Positivity is powerful. If I hold onto these, I will succeed."
"Yes, dear. You understand."
"I love you." I said. "So I love myself. And that's very important. Because all along, it's myself who's making me strong."
"Yes, dear. That's accurate."
"So even if I don't come on the hilltop, I can still find you in my heart. I have the power to make myself stronger."
"Yes, dear. Now, you know."
◇ They agreed on everything, weren't they a perfect match. But no, they weren't a match. They were one. They were the same. They were inseparable. It was an eternal bond. A bond known as love. Because she believed and she loved. So all along, she knew. She thought it was magic. They said it was not. So she told them that the magic was within. In their hearts. All they needed to do was look for it. There was magic in love, friendship and teamwork. Magic was real. If only, they believed. It was magic if they found themselves. In the midst of all the tension and misery, it was magic if they found the true form of themselves. She told them they needed to search. To believe. So they did and they found. Look inside. That's where you live because that's where you love. Be calm and strong and you'll believe. ◇
