Finding Mr. Perfect's Flaws

[Twelve]

Cheer Practice

A/N: Sorry for the long wait, guys. School is terrible and hard. I hope this chapter is okay, I had writers block for it. But I wrote the next chapter, just fine. So... yeah. Haha (:

"I don't understand why I have to do this," I muttered under my breath, annoyed. Tamara swished her cheer skirt around in her hand, smiling like a five year old. She showed me her teeth.

"Because I love you, bitch. Get over it," She said, looking over at me with a grin. I rolled my eyes, smiling. We were walking in the parking lot to the field, arguing playfully. It was (surprisingly) cold, and my jacket felt too light. It was finally Sunday and Tamara decided to take me to her cheer practice. She was excited, and I was too. Not for her cheer practice, but because my hangover was officially gone. I could finally appreciate the weekend. Or... the last of it.

"I don't understand why you are on the cheerleading squad either. I thought you hated pep?"

"So? I love tripping these girls," She said, smiling at my laughter. "And I love watching.... never mind." She smirked. I rolled my eyes again, smiling. She loved watching the girls in skirts. She laughed at my expression. I pretended to shiver in disgust.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Because you're so homophobic and everything," She said, smirking at me. I shoved her playfully. She laughed and smacked my shoulder. When we stepped onto the field, I felt eyes trained on me. I looked up and tried to contain my gasp.

I spun around, only to be caught by Tamara.

"No, no big boy. You have to stay. You promised."

"Tamara! You didn't tell me that the football team was going to be practicing too!" I whispered angrily. I tried to walk away again, but she latched onto my arm. She started to drag me back towards the field, digging her fingers into my arm.

"Zachary, let's go. You're making a scene," She whispered at me. I turned then, and followed her back into the field. I glanced up through my bangs and almost turned around and walked away again. The same two people were staring at me from across the field, dressed up in their practice clothes. Collin and Dean.

I didn't tell Tamara what had happened that night, but I didn't have to. She knew I went to a party with Collin and came home drunk. Do the math. She had smirked and changed the subject. Then she wouldn't answer my questions about said smirk.

I heard whispering as I neared the cheerleaders. They were huddled around the end of the field, talking amongst themselves. I heard my name as we approached. The cheer team's coach came up to me, Kallie hot on her heels.

"Excuse me? What are you doing here?" The coach asked, crossing her arms over her gigantic chest. I wanted to roll my eyes. She had black hair tied back into a high, tight ponytail. She wasn't wearing any makeup, but she still looked young. I was about her height as well.

"I wanted to see if you needed help. Tamara told me that you were missing a base and a backstop," I said. Tamara smiled behind the coaches back and gave me a thumbs up. Kallie glared.

"And what do you know about cheerleading?" The coach asked, glaring at me. I took a step back and prepared myself.

"Two, four, six, eight, who do we hate? Sparrows, sparrows... yay." I said in a loud voice, flapping my arms everywhere. I heard laughter behind me and turned to look at the football team. Half of the boys were laughing; smirking. But laughing with me, and not at me. I saw Dean covering his mouth, trying not to laugh. Collin was smiling. I quickly turned back. The coach was still glaring.
