The sun was shining and the birds were chirping, it was a picture right out of a fairytale. The sweet laughter of the children was absolutely contagious. The family of four was so blissfully happy enjoying a picnic on a warm summer's day.
"See. See-food," the little boy laughed hysterically as he clutched his shaking belly. He stuck his tongue out complete with partially digested peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
"Oh Cameron, gross," Camila looked disgusted and turned away from her son. "Where did you learn that?"
"Where do you think?" Lauren laughed as she watched her wife, watching for the moment when the answer dawned on her.
"Dinah," Camila mumbled before taking a sip of her fresh-squeezed lemonade.
"Yeah," Cameron giggled. "Yesterday! She's gonna teach me how to burp my ABCs."
"I so don't think so, she is so not babysitting not anymore," Camila replied. "My baby is not learning how to belch the alphabet, you're supposed to be a little gentleman."
"Ewww Mama, I'm not a baby anymore! I'm a big boy and I can burp!" Cameron stood up and puffed his chest out to get his point across.
"That's right, you're a Jauregui boy," Lauren scooped up her son in her arms and threw him over her shoulder. "It's your god given right to burp!" She grabbed the Frisbee on the grass and ran with Cameron over to the clearing.
"Mommy and Cameron siwwy," Emma laughed as she crawled onto her mother's lap.
"Yes Mommy and Cameron are very silly," Camila chuckled as she kissed her little girl's sweet smelling hair.
"Mama burpy yucky," Emma looked up at her mother. "Wittle girls no do burpy."
"That's right, especially not my little sweet pea," Camila held her daughter close.
Camila began to braid Emma's hair as the little girl babbled on and on from bunnies to baby dolls. Camila listened, she loved her daughter's sweet little baby voice, but also kept an eye out on her wife and son. They were playing a little game of Frisbee. Every so often Cameron screamed out to Camila and waved, happy that he could throw the Frisbee several feet. He actually did have a pretty good arm.
"I'm beat," Lauren fell onto the blanket almost twenty minutes later, sweat glistening on her forehead. "He's pretty fast."
"And you're getting old, huh?" Camila smirked at her beloved.
"No," Lauren said quickly, she knew that she was still in great shape. "Just a little tired, someone kept me up for half the night," she winked.
"Who kept you up?" Cameron asked as he took a seat in between his parents, Emma was sitting contently on her mother's lap drinking from her sippy cup.
"Mama did," Lauren smirked.
"Lauren," Camila glared at Lauren, their five year old was way too young for the conversation detailing their late night activities.
"She had a nightmare," Lauren explained as she tousled her little boy's hair.
"Oh, did you make Mama feel better?" Cameron asked.
"You bet I did," Lauren winked at Camila so Cameron couldn't see.
Camila rolled her eyes as she threw a grape at her wife's head, direct hit.
"Yum," Lauren popped the grape into her mouth after it landed on her shorts.
"I want a cookie," Cameron announced suddenly.
"Sure honey, let me...," Camila held Emma with one hand as the other searched the picnic basket. "You know what, I left them in the car."
"Let's go get them," Cameron smiled and stood up quickly, he loved his mother's peanut butter cookies.
