Bella POV

My alarm went off as usual, but I couldn't bring myself to get up. I didnt know what I was going to do but I couldn't stay where I was.

Physically and emotionally.

Physically because I knew if I stayed in bed, I'd never get up. Emotionally because I couldn't sulk. I had no right to.

I stare at the ceiling and decide I can't go to school either. I needed a day, just to myself, and figure somethings out.

Sighing, I get up and put on some classic Hollister shorts, my favorite band t-shirt, slip on my rainbows, and a pair of sunglasses. My hair is not perfect, but it's not a total mess either, so I just let it lose and free.

I look at my hair and notice it's getting kind of long. I laugh at my thoughts before they are interrupted by someone else in need of a trim too.

I mentally slap myself and grab my wallet and keys.

Jogging down the stairs I notice that, as usual, everyone had already gone. I contemplate grabbing a banana but then decide I'll stop at a Starbucks somewhere.

Getting into my car I begin to drive, with no real destination.

El once told me that life works wonders, but it also makes tragedies. She told me this after her dog Dezzy died. Now, I had no dying pet, and maybe this wasn't a "tagedy", but, it wasn't something good to come my way. So, if it wasn't a "tragedy" and wasn't a "wonder", what then was it?

Some time between my analysis of El's quote and Ryan Secrest giving away Jingle Ball tickets, I managed to drive to the coast: Santa Monica to be exact.

Being LA and all, it was not the crowded location most assumed (well, for a weekday), and so I parked my car along the street and put in 5 quarters into the parking meter.

"120 min" the meter read.

I figured two hours would be good for now.

Santa Monica has long been one of my favorite parts of LA, and so I have visited more times that I'd like to admit. I was exactly one block south to find the promised land: Starbucks.

Just as I get to the door and woman in a wheelchair passes and I open the door for her. She gives me a sour smile as to say "i didnt need the help". Well sorry!

Going in I'm welcomes by the sweet and oh-so-satisfying aroma of coffee.

Being 9 am most people have gone to work so there is no line to order. Usually, Melly, a small but oh-so-sweet college girl is working. But being a weekday and all, I assume she's at school.

"Give me a second" the batista says with his back turned. I notice he's making some kind of green drink?

Hm.

I look back up at the menu and scan my options. It's warm outside and I want to try something new. Not that I don't love my white chocolate mochas, because trust me, I do, but why not?

"Whenever you're ready" i hear the guy say.

I snap my head in his direction. How did I not realize he'd been standing there?

What I'm met with however, are two blue eyes and a side smirk.

"Huh?" I say, dumbfounded,

"I said, hi, my name is Luke and just tell me whenever you're ready" he laughs, obviously aware that I had no idea what had happened in the last 30 seconds.

"Uh, yeah", I say, suddenly feeling pressured to give my order, "what was that you were making before?" I ask

"The green thing?" He asks, and I nod in response.

"Oh, it's called a Green Tea Frappuccino. One of my favorites, actually" he smiles.

He doesnt seem like someone who would have bad taste in...anything really, so I decide why the hell not?

"Okay, I'll take a tall one of those", I order.

"Sure. Name?" He asks, picking up the clear cup and sharpie.

I think about it for a second, and decide I can have a little fun with this.

"Put, Hermione Granger" i smile, and he does so with amusement in his eyes.

I wait for my drink to be made and in no time "Hermione" is called out by the barista.

He hands me the drink in my hand and tells me to have a good day. I walk out and make my way to the boardwalk. The ocean breeze hitting my face in a calming yet persistent manner.

Walking down the boardwalk I pass a mom and her young daughter sharing a cotton candy, and magician and his pet monkey entertaining a little boy, an elderly couple walking hand in hand, and a man painting an abstract picture of the beach.

I notice one thing in particular of all these people: peace. Just like them, I feel peace coming to me.

Walking until the near end, I find an empty bench and sit down. Watching the tides hit the shore, I notice that no one like the other. Each chosing their own path, length and strength.

Smiling at their independence, I decide I'll finally try my new drink. I take a small sip and contemplate the taste.

It's new.

It's different.

It's unique.

But, it's surprisingly good.

I look at the cup and under the words "Hermione Granger " is a little note,

You made today worth it. Thank you beautiful -Luke, xx

Harry POV

Before I can give Zayn an answer, the bell rings, I tell him that I'll talk to him more about the situation after school and we decide to meet at his house.

I walk to Music Theory and take a seat in my usual spot. As class gets ready to start the room fills but the seat next to mine remains empty.

Did Bella not come today?

And more importantly: why hadn't I noticed?
