"i just don't understand."

"i'm not answering it again niall, you ask me this everyday."

"but it doesn't make sense."

"it makes plenty of sense," liam sighs, setting the stack of freshly printed contracts on his desk. he had his hopes high as he looked over the neatly set stacks of all the work he was to complete for the week, there was no way harry wasn't going to give him the job on the spot after his internship ended.

the 5-year contract had done him well, preparing him for every possible position in the company, but he only wanted the highest position available, CAO, chief administrative officer. he knows that once he gets this position, he'll have to give zayn the best sex of his life, considering zayn gave up a lot for this.

it had been a struggle for both of them, they had jamal when they were in high school and both of them had decided to keep the baby, making the deal that once liam graduated high school, he'd take a year off to watch over the baby while zayn finished his senior year.

that didn't turn out to be the case, liam's marks and excellence in robotics and engineering had landed him a scholarship to the only university in town and a spot in the styles' co. internship program that only held a few students. it was paid too.

liam was set on declining it, taking on his part of taking care of their son until zayn graduated, but zayn insisted that liam accept and even ignored him for a few days until he did. when zayn finally had the baby, his parents agreed to take care of him while zayn was at school but it was his responsibility when he got home.

it actually had went well, it was manageable and wasn't as stressful as both zayn and liam thought it would be. zayn even got accepted into the university, but just with his luck, he got pregnant again and this time with triplets. it was much harder this time, with more weight on him he struggled to get to classes quicker and became extremely tired when doing his work.

it was rough, but he got through it, finishing his freshman year of college while 9 months pregnant with 3 kids. he had never felt so accomplished in his life. when the triplets were born, it was a little more work for liam and zayn but they worked it out, both getting up during the night to take care of the crying babies.

at the time, they had lived in a small two bedroom apartment, living off of liam's internship money and zayn's job at the nearest hotel. money was tight and sometimes they could barely feed themselves to make sure their kids were taken care of. once zayn got a promotion, improving their income and making it easier for their little family to live, they saved up for the townhouse that they rent now.

by then, he was in his junior year of college and luckily enough, became pregnant again. when leah was born, he decided to drop out of college, the responsibility of five kids, taking over his life. liam was ready to drop out as well, willing to help zayn with their kids but zayn prevented him from doing so, encouraging him to keep going since he only had one more year of college and two more years of his internship. liam was hesitant but ended up giving in, not wanting to deal with another silent treatment.

it wasn't even a big surprise when zayn got pregnant again, they brushed it off like it was a normal thing, a forgotten topic at dinner. people barely even congratulated him, so used to continuous strand of kids.

liam knew though, that this was the last child, there wasn't going to be anymore after him and once liam got the promotion, it'll be much easier to take care of his family and zayn will be able to quit his job at the hotel, it'll be great.

"he's right payne, it doesn't make any sense," there was only one problem, "it's about time you should do something about it." roderick says, leaning against liam's cubicle. roderick was the only other intern, fighting for liam's wanted spot. he had a reputation just as good as liam's, except liam was a little above him, secretly being harry's favorite.
