At the Dracul Mansion, liveliness never stopped stirring. Now the entire basement was occupied by the Insetatii, noise never ceased. Dracul still had his quarters in the attic, and Costel now had his own rooms in the house. The Insetatii had grown slightly, and if Dracul's plan actually worked, it would grow to entire empire along the years, and still remain unnoticed.

No one ever dared to cross the field, so the mansion stayed a secret. And if the house ever became over-crowded, they could always rebuild or construct some sort of extension. Dracul did not yet have that part of the plan completely in his head, but when the time came, he assured himself that he would already have the blueprints.

Dracul started to make way downstairs to greet his people, as today was a very special day: Hunting day. Dracul had decided that this particular time should occur only about 4 times a month, on different scheduled days, so they wouldn't raise any suspicion in the city.

He stepped inside, and the vampirs were already assembled in place. Costel was waiting for him on the platform, ready to follow out instructions.

"Insetattii," he adressed his audience. "Today is a very significant day. Today will be the day you first taste blood. And I can assure you that you won't be disappointed."

The crowd cheered, then lowered their chatter again so Dracul could speak.

"Now, I have decided we shall hunt in groups of about 20, so hunting should take over a period of 3 days. I'll join the first group on their hunt, and then the rest of you can start."

Excitement buzzed around the basement, bursting any signs of anxiousness. Today was the day when the Insetatti would no longer be thirsty, grief-stricken people - they would now be strong, astounding vampirs.

"I shall pick vampirs to join Costel and I," Dracula announced, trying to hide his sinister grin.

He began to choose 19 random vampirs to join him. Finally he chose Mircea.

"One more thing: now we are all vampirs you will find that we are stronger than humans, making us notorious. You've gained super-human strength." The crowd liked this, and applauded. Dracul smiled and turned to the 20 vampirs he picked.

"When the night comes, we shall make our move. Bucharest won't know what hit them."

Under the cover of night, the group of vampirs stepped once again onto the streets of Bucharest. They were very much alone - everyone was home, sleeping. There was no light to guide through the the streets, but soon the vampirs found they could distinguish things easily in the dark.

"I don't see anyone," someone exclaimed, glancing around.

"I think everyone's asleep," Mircea said, directing his veiw to Dracul. "Should we wait?"

Dracul shook his head. "No, someone will come out sometime. Trust me."

As if on cue, a lone drunkard stumbled out of an alleyway. He had a bottle clutched in hand, and he was swerving it around. He was shouting something at the top of his voice, but it was hard to make out - his words were slurred into a language only known to himself.
