I just stared at him, confused. Me, a demon hunter? No way in hell. "I'm sorry you must have the wrong person" I said. "I cant be a demon hunter. That's impossible. I'm just a normal girl that works like anyone else to make a living". "You're wrong" he said. "Would you care to explain then? Since you've been here you haven't explained anything" I replied. "Fine, but no interruptions and if you would, hold all questions until the end". "Fine" I said. "Thank you. I don't really know where to start, so I think I'll just start from the beginning" he paused then continued, "Aria is the world you were born into. It is the world between heaven and hell, a world where us demon hunters live and train for battle. You were born December 5, 1997 by the world's previously greatest demon hunter, your mother. You also had a father, but he died in battle when you were two years old. By the age of five you had surpassed your mother, an impossible feat never achieved by anyone else. Your mother, at the time, was the only previous exception and became great by the age of eight. Children born in Aria begin training by the age of five. On Earth this would be seen as extreme, but you have to see it from our perspective. We need to teach each generation of children from the age of five to the age of ten all of the basics of fighting before they could be sent to the academy for advanced training to then be put out in the field to fight. Your mother was sent to the academy at the age of 8 because she was an exceptionally great student. She had learned all of the basics and was able to kill a demon with ease. Killing a demon is your final test before being sent to the academy, a test taken at the age of ten, but your mother had completed the test two years earlier than most ever could. You had completed this test at the age of five. Your first year in basics was your only year. You were taught by a more advanced teacher because you excelled at everything they taught. In basics they teach you how to use most basic weapons like swords, daggers, etc., basic fighting skills, the different kinds of demons, and most importantly how to take one down. You passed the same test at the end of the year with a perfect score like your mother. For the next two years you went to the academy. Children go to the academy for two years and then they're assigned to a team and put on the field. You passed these two years with just as much ease as your year in basics, passing at the age of seven with the highest scores ever achieved, and beating your mothers score of a ninety nine out of a hundred. Instead of being on a team you were given a partner, same as your mother. She was partners with your father, who was the second best at the time. He scored a ninety seven out of a hundred. Your partner was also the second best student who had achieved a ninety eight out of a hundred. I was your partner, as I've told you earlier. I was nine at the time. We fought demons together for the next seven years. We were the greatest team that had ever lived. We had faced and took down demons that no one had dared to ever go after. You were a great swordsman and your swords were the best in the entire universe. You wielded Excalibur and Starfury, a crystal sword you had been given by the fairy folk that lived in the forest. You were the only demon hunter that could ever lift Excalibur from its pedestal, so that's how you got it. Sadly four years ago a horrible accident had occurred that changed our world forever. You and I had chased down the most dangerous demon that had ever lived, and it was a great battle, but as I distracted it and you went for the final blow the demon turned around and smacked you to the ground. You were knocked unconscious, so I grabbed you and fled back to the town. You had multiple broken ribs, your hands had multiple fractures, your right leg was broken, and you had a severe concussion. When you had awoken you hadn't remembered anything. You didn't know your name, where you were, or who anyone was. I spoke to our leaders, a council of very wise men and women who had retired from hunting and requested leadership positions, and they said that because of your injury it would be best to let you recover and live a normal life on Earth. I protested and asked if you could remain here. I said I would reteach you everything if that's what it took, but they refused. I was the best demon hunter they had left, and they needed me to fight. After you left more and more demons kept appearing, and I continued fighting them, but every time I got the chance I would come here and watch you. I made sure you were safe at school and that you weren't living on the streets. Then after you graduated and moved into your own house I figured you were safe, so I stopped coming as often and focused on hunting. It had been six months since I came back, and I prayed you were still living at the same house and you were still safe. When I came yesterday and I was walking to your house I knew you you'd probably be okay and that I was overreacting, but then I saw you being attacked by those men and I had regretted my decision instantly. I fought the other two as fast as I could to catch up to you and the other guy, but by the time I reached you you had lost most consciousness and then you passed out. I brought you home, put you on the couch and stayed outside until you left for work. After I came in I sat on the couch awaiting your return. I'm so sorry Skylar, I failed you as your protector, your partner, and your boyfriend. I hope you could find it in your heart to forgive me" he ended. "What do you mean boyfriend?" I said.
