Snow Drift (h.s.)

Chapter 1

I walk through the long hallway, making my way to my dorm room and entering quickly. Just to open and see my roommate, Eli, on her phone.

"hey Eli. " I say and walk over to my closet.

She gives me a slight nod and I continue routing through my closet for my history book I needed for my next class.

I turn sharply on my heel and almost fall. Eli quickly stands in front of me, but I walk past her and look on the bookcase.

"what are you looking for? " she asks. "I could help you look, if you need it. " she offers.

Eli is new to our college and always trys to help. Ya, sure. Sometimes it's great when you need help for example: trying to find a textbook in the messiest room ever in the next 5 minutes. But it can be really annoying at times and I've had to tell her off more than once.

I nod. "Yeah, I'm looking for my history textbook and I need it like, now. " I say.

"oh! I think I saw that a few minutes ago!" she walks over to the bathroom and comes out with my book.

"here. "she says with a smile.

I reluctantly take it and thank her. I rush out the door and to my next class.

I walk into the auditorium and I'm late. Again.

I walk out of the auditorium with my friend and tutor, Liam.

"so what are you doing for winter break? " he asks.

"I am going home. I'm leaving tomorrow evening and I'm probably not coming back until the first week of January. How about you? " I say hitting his arm.

"Same here. I'm going to fly back home and visit but I'm leaving you till the second week of January." he shrugs.

My jaw drops and I put my hand to my chest. " You must hate me! Leaving me alone here with Eli by myself for almost an entire week! "I sigh and look forward.

"sorry. But it's not like she's even going to share the same dorm as you next semester anyway. "he says.

I sigh and shake my head. "you just jinxed it. "

We continue our conversation until we split paths. He gives me a slight wave and says goodbye to me and heads for his car to go back to his apartment.

I shrug my bag off and lie on my bed. Staring at the ceiling and enjoying the ememse silence while I can.

It was short lived because not even a second later, Eli walks in and starts talking.

I wake up from a door being slammed and shoot up.

Eli must have left.

Thank the lord.

I stand up and make my way to the bathroom, taking a quick shower and getting dressed into some joggers and a band-t. I let my hair air dry for a little while but end up having to change into a sweater because of my wet hair, putting my hair in a loose french braid.

I start my packing and soon start to get hungry so I grab a quick snack and continue my packing adventures.

I munch on some chips as I fold and pack my things into boxes to be moved to my new dorm room next semester.

Liam helps me put the last off the boxes into my trunk and shuts it.

"thanks for the help. " I smile at him.

He rolls his eyes and smiles. "ya sure."

I hug him. "I better hit the road. I heard its supposed to snow back home and I don't want to run into trouble."

"okay. I'll see you in January then." he smiles.

I glare at him and get in my car.

"bye! " I yell at him as I pull of the parking spot.

"bye! Have a safe trip home Aspen!" he waves me off.

I start my long journey home and start it off with Mc Donalds.
