My mother first hated me when she found out that her pregnancy with me, made her weak. It was the first time since her reign that it stopped snowing for nine months. There were even patches of flowers growing around her castle, lilies tulips in every color. Or so the stories tell me. It was this time when the rumors of my mothers weakness spread to the other parts of the seasons and declared war on the Ice Queen.
Summing up the nine month war, towards the end my mother was facing defeat. She got weaker and weaker as I grew stronger in her. When she was giving birth the castle got infiltrated by the spring and summer court, the summer ruler got into her bed chamber first and was ready to kill my mother and I. But the strangest thing happened, once I was born my mothers weakness went away. She began to gain her strength back and not only that, she was stronger.
So much for maternity leave.
Anyways, every intruder on her land was turned into ice in a matter of seconds with little effort at all. She made examples of the soldiers by having her men send them to the summer and spring courts and letting them melt in front of their friends and families. And as a gift to herself, she kept the summer and spring court rulers as ornaments on her front lawn.
Like I said, I was hated by my mother during her pregnancy because I weakened her. What changed her icy heart was that she noticed I was not a weakness, despite the nine months that said otherwise, I was actually her strength. She was far more powerful once I was born. Destroying two armies was an example of that.
This was something that has never happened before in her previous pregnancies. The few that she has had in her immortal life have been pretty mundane. None of the children had inherited her power over ice, getting all their genes from whoever their fathers were and so they had no use for her. Her previous son's and daughters had been put into her army and lived short lives.
What makes me different from my past siblings was that I was my mothers daughter. I had her power, her ice cold features and her ambition for more.
