Ray grabbed my hand and started pulling me back to his house. I didn't complain once, It's not like I want to be left at the scene of my outburst - I didn't want to see what I had just done. We walked in a fast pace, neither one of us speaking as the grass and rocks crunched under our shoes. His grip was strong around my wrist and it helped to keep my mind present, but I know he was holding on to me only because he though I was going to escape any second.
His house comes into view and he picks up his pace, I'm practically jogging to keep up with him. At this point I try to pry my hand free only so it stopped looking like I was being dragged, but he pulls on me harder. It only gets worse once we enter his house, the second the door closes he pins me to the wall and has my dagger kissing my throat.
That's two times in one day he's got me pinned to the wall, this inexperienced boy needs to quit doing this because next time we're in this position it's because his shirts off and I'm lonely. And even though his shirt is slightly burnt off, its far from that. His dark eyes have shadows of anger and his breathing is heavy, but his hand to my throat is the only thing steady.
"Who are you. No, who sent you hu?" he wasn't yelling but the steady calm in his voice was clear.
"Look Ray, relax," I lift my hand to move the dagger away from my throat, but when I do he pins my arm above my head , annoying me even more, "Ray, I suggest you don't mess with my temper right now, unless you want to get burnt - again," I say through gritted teeth.
"Answer me now, who sent you," his hand softened on my arm but not on the dagger.
"No one," I said starring into his eyes, and thats when I saw that he was scared, but not of me, "I believe the question I should ask is, who's looking for you Ray?"
Thats how his sister found us, Ray and I against the wall with his hands pinning me, a little awkward.
"Wow, what did I miss?" her tone was casual, ask if this happened every day, but her face was cautious as she saw the daggers sharp end on me.
"Tell your brother to get off me, he's getting me irritated," I sound out loud.
"Zinnia, pack your bags, we're leaving," Ray commanded his sister.
At first she did nothing, just stared, "Why? What happened?" she asked.
"Nova's part of the royal court, she tried to kill me."
"No I didn't!" I yelled.
"Where's your proof Ray? You can't be paranoid about this. We have it well here, if we leave then we need to stay gone-"
"Just look at my shirt! She burned me! As in she wielded the fire coming out of her hands. She's a royal," he said.
I understand why Ray would be a little worked up about this, but really? Did he forget when I also saved him? Okay yes, I burnt him, a little, but it was my first time ever discovering that well I have the power over fire too. I think I deserve a break. And of course he didn't actually know that, not without me confessing who I really was. This day - no this vacation - was not how I planned it to be.
"Okay, enough," I said in my princess voice, the one that demanded to be listened to," I did not mean to burn you Ray, and lets not forget that I also put it out. So I believe the words you are looking for is 'thank you' and Zinnia drop the knife, I see you hiding it in your apron. And Ray, don't make me tell you again, Let. Go. Of. Me."
Zinnia had her hands by her side, but still close by that if anything happened to her brother I'm sure she'd throw the knife and have a decent enough aim of me in such a tight space. Ray on the other hand took his time letting me go. First it was my arm, and then he slowly peeled himself off me, the heat from his body going with him as he backed away, my dagger still in between us.
