Da ich momentan ein Auslandsjahr (Schüleraustausch) mache, fange ich einfach mal an, Tipps zu schreiben, die mir gegebem wurden kurz nachdem ich hier angekommen bin. Außerdem gibt es lots of phrases und andere Dinge, die sehr gut zum Thema Reisen passen.

As exchange student in school: "Your test tomorrow will be multiple choice" -Nice, no studying tonight!

You build a life for 16 years and leave it for 10 month.

You build a life for 10 month and leave it forever.

Which one is harder?

That awkward moment when you realize that your brain is functioning on english instead of your native language.

Everyone smiles in the same language

Sometimes people who are thousands of miles away can make you feel better than people right beside you.

This heart of mine was made to travel this wold.

An exchange year is like a pregnancy, a rollercoaster of emotions.

It is exciting yet terrifying...

You get fat.

You eat. You cry. You eat more.

But what you gain from it is a new family, and no matter the struggles

It will always be worth it.

When we become an exchange student, we realize who is our real friend, and who is not.

"We travel because we need to, because distance and difference are the secret tonic to dreativity. When we get home, our minds has changed, and that changes everything."

Wherever you go becomes a part of you, somehow.

I'd rather look back at my life and say

"I can't believe I did that!"

Instead of sayin,

"I wish I did that..."

An ache for distant places. A carving to travel.

Please be a traveler, not a tourist. Try new things, meet new people, and look beyond what's right in front of you. Those sre the keys to understanding this amazing world we live in. ~ Andrew Zimmern

Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.

Maybe the reason why some of us stay up all night and sleep all day is because we were meant to live on the other side of the planet.

Reisen ist wichtig, weil es verbindet.

...wenn du merkst, dass du Lebensmittel ganz normal findest, die alle anderen ekelig finden.

...wenn du merkst, dass du eine Kalorienbombe zu dir nimmst und du denkst "Egal, in Deutschland krieg ich das nicht mehr!"

Du bist ein Austauschschüler wenn.../ You know you're an exchange student when...

...man dir 7 Stunden zu früh gratuliert, weil dort schon dein Geburtstag ist.

...du die Bedeutung eines Wortes kennst, aber nicht die Übersetzung.

...ein Jahr für dich keine "lange Zeit" mehr ist.

...du mehr skypest als telefonierst.

...ZUHAUSE nicht nur ein Ort ist.

...du in Gesprächen verständnislose Blicke für Fremdwörter erntest.

...für dich Currys und Burritos von Straßenständen der wahre Genuss sind.

...dich die Berechnung von Zeitunterschieden zum Zahlenprofi macht.

...du Freunde auf jedem Kontinent hast.

Es sind die Begegnungen mit Menschen, die das Leben lebenswert machen!
