It was early morning when my team and I were called to Lord Hokage's office to receive our next mission. As it happens we weren't the only team there, which was quite the surprise. Gai, Asuma and Kurenai's teams were all accounted for as well.
"Well, it's not often we're all called for a mission." I said taking out my book and flipping to a random page. The other jounin smiled and nodded.
"I can already tell that this will be an interesting day." Asuma chuckled watching the genin argue and fight amongst themselves, particularly my students. I sighed, watching as the other genin behaved. Why couldn't my team act like that?
The third hokage cleared his throat, stopping most of the chaos, though Naruto was dead set on beating Sasuke into the floorboards..."As you can see I've called all of you here for a very important mission. This mission has a difficulty of a B-rank, which is why you will be fighting with a greater number. Many of chunin teams have already been assigned to missions but this one is rather urgent."
Lord Hokage explained. "We've received information that 3 villages near the western border have been destroyed and are nothing but piled ash and decrepit buildings. I sent the Anbu to investigate earlier but not a single person was found."
"How's that possible? Aren't there leads?" Kurenai asked. "I mean someone must have sent a distress signal from at least one of the villages before it got to this."
"You're right, Kurenai, we should have, but it would seem the village leaders were less than cooperative with their lives on the line." He said.
"I see. So they were blackmailed." I said flicking through the pages absentmindedly. "Do we know where the culprit or culprits will strike next?"
"Yes. They're targeting a small village between us and the Land of waves. I'll be sending all of you to investigate."
"This seems a bit much, don't you think? There are 4 full teams here; it's a bit excessive even for an B-rank." Asuma said.
"Not only that, but why send teams of genin?" I questioned, idly flipping another page.
"I admit that I could send only two teams or so but," He looked at me specifically, his eye twinkling with amusement. "I didn't think you'd want to miss a good show. As for the genin, they will prove useful as this mission is reminiscent of one from the past- your past in particular Kakashi."
I raised an eyebrow, "And what would you mean by that, Lord Hokage?"
He laughed his hand bringing a small file towards him, "Well, it won't be just our village working on this case but the other village is only sending one person. I'm sure you'll be grateful for the help, especially you, Kakashi."
"Why me, and who is this person?" I said closing my book slowly.
"I believe you called her Chaos Rebel when you were younger and it seems that that is the only name we have on file for them." He smiled. My eyes widened, as I glanced hurriedly towards the ever curious teams, I wasn't going to be able to avoid this interrogation.
I cleared my throat, "I had heard that she was dead."
He chuckled again, "Yes so had I but she's alive and well. Now off to your mission then. Oh but before that."He said stopping the group with half in the room and half in the hall "Kakashi, I can't seem to recall that little nickname of yours. What was it again? Ic-"
"Lord Hokage it's getting late. I assure you that I don't recall ever gaining a nickname from that thing." I said pushing everyone out the door. I heard a low chuckle as I shut the door and the Hokage said something along the lines of 'I'm sure you don't'.
