They arose, their feet firm against the escalator as it pushes them higher. Jane ran her hand softly against the rail of the escalator as the other hand pressed a chip against her tongue, the salty texture almost burning her mouth.
"I'm thirsty." Jane exclaimed, another chip swinging to her lips. Her friend, Gale picked at her apple pie, sucking the remains off her fingers as they reached the top.
Janes eyes pricked at the water machine perched to the side, her tongue instantly watering as she hurried over to it, Gale following behind her, now biting into the 2 for £1 apple pie.
"It's free." Gale stated, her finger pressed against the label, reading: Free Water!
Jane exhaled, she hadn't a bottle to fill with water. To her unfortunate, they walked away, towards the bustop.
Suddenly, three ambulance and police cars surrounded the area, a group of females being questioned by authority. Gales eyebrows furrowed, her eyes scanning the scene.
"What the fuck is going on?" Gale asked casually, still contributing to her Apple pie, however Janet had stopped eating her chips, she was curious.
"I don't know." Janet mumbled, one hand in her chip bag. We sat on a pole, glaring from a far.
"Do you know what's going on?" A woman asked, her face pale. Our heads cocked to the woman.
"No." Janet said, a nervous chuckle at the end. Gale staring.
The woman walked away, Gale and Janet walked toward the scene, closer. They stood observing the commotion, another young woman drifting towards them, beside Gale.
"Are the buses still going to stop here?" She asked, bags bundled in her hands. Gale blinked once, her head nodding, yes.
"Yeah." They said in unison. "I think so." The woman nodded once and looked away.
"Do you want to stay here and eat until so we can watch what's happening, and then get the bus after." Gale inquired, her mouth chewing on her apple pie. Janet nodded in approval.
Suddenly a man approached them, his green blazer reading: Bus Station Services. He stared the girls dead in the eyes, before his lips parted.
"Please can you go home?" He grunted, his face full of hatred.
Gale snorted, in attempt not to laugh. Janet pushed hair out of her nose, her stomach twisting.
"We're waiting for the bus?" She creased her eyebrows, nodding towards the bus stop. The man said nothing for a few seconds.
"What bus." His deep tone wrapping around their necks. Gale stood, her face turning with laughter.
"295." Janet bluntly stated, by this point tears were brimming in their eyes.
The man wandered off.
The girls bursts into laughter, tears uncontrollably falling down their face. Another man walking past, his breeze pushing against their cheeks.
He tilted his head around, facing Janet and Gale. He smiled, turned his head and walked away.
That was the moment they truly fell in love.
