They don't need to understand

I can't wait to leave
Ill finally be free
Just like a bee in a meadow
No longer trapped
In the clutches of those whom I love
But refuse to let me be myself
Like a starving man having his first meal in weeks
Denial.
They all face it
They just don't want to accept it
Accept that their child isn't 'normal'
She doesn't fit in with what society says she should be
Yet they don't know how she might be feeling
That the way she dresses is how she expresses herself
The music she listens to makes her feel accepted
She finally feels accepted somehow
In ways they just can't understand
But it's fine if they don't understand
She doesn't expect them to
All she wants is for them to accept who she is
No matter if she is different
All she wants is to be accepted in this cruel cruel world
And they don't need to understand, just accept
