ALPHA -

The leader of the pack. The one who keeps order. Executes and accepts wolves in and out of the pack. Most respected and one to eat first. Keeps pack safe and in control.

BETA -

Second in command (usually most trusted) does everything the alpha has no time for, such as keeping the peace, keeping count of food, passes on problems to alpha. Tries to keep everyone in control and gathers them when in danger while alpha figures out a plan. Gives alpha ideas and is submissive to alpha. Practically messenger for alpha. Knowledgeable for alpha's sake. Tries to keep alpha on their legs. Backup for alpha, shares information with alpha. While alpha shows dominance, beta keeps the dominance in the air

The Beta rank is the highest ranking wolf in the pack just below the Alpha couple. The Beta wolf is essentially the second-in-command for the Volac. The Beta is otherwise similar to wolves in the High rank. When the Alpha's are absence (which for reason can be surveying areas, chosing new territory, editing sites, etc), it is the Volac's job to make sure the pack is organized and under control, and would most likely take over for the alphas. The beta would help the Volac like the Volac would help the alphas in their presence. Any problems that occur in the pack, the Betas report to the Alphas/Volacs and allow the Alphas to take control. The beta isn't a long term rank, depending on the absence of the alpha, and can be any wolf the volac trusts to help them. all round. Makes sure everything is going as planned. Deals with the small problems. Adviser.

VOLAC -

The Volac's symbolize that of co-alphas. Second in command and are the right paw and advisors of the Alphas. They are often the peace-keepers of the pack by breaking up any fights between the wolves, and have the authority to enforce temporary consequences such as being confined into a den for a long period of time. The Beta is like their companion, like the Volac is companion to the alphas. When the Alphas are indeed away for a time, these wolves are the next in authority and demand the same respect and control from their packmates. Though able to punish a lower ranking wolf and accept others into the pack, they are not allowed to exile them for that is the ultimate decision of the Alphas. Being highly loyal and trusted, they are expected to step up and carry out pack laws during both Alphas absence, though are to step back down without arguments during their return. These wolves cannot be challenged for their rank, only an Alpha can demote a Volac and assign their replacement. Volacs are the alphas beta. They are only volacs when the alpha is absent. There is no special line between volac and beta.
