Wolfsbane looked around at everybody as they trecked slowly east, towards where E said the nearest village was. She had no idea how he knew that. They flight had been last minute and they weren't intending on staying long so no-body had had time to pack. As a result, she was getting an unwelcome tan. She always been a darker shade of "white" but now she was going red on top of it. Her flip-flops were falling off in the never-ending abyss of sand but she was still thankful she had them. She felt sorry for the barefooted Spring-Heeled Jack as he hopped up and down so as not to burn himself on the boiling ground. You could cook an egg on it. Although it would be sandy. Mmmmm, sandy egg...
She could see a small building on the horizon and looked to see if anybody else had seen it. E was staring forward, leading the group and Jack was looking at the floor, his bowler pulled low to keep the sun out of his eyes. Behind her, she could hear Roulette and Lorelei chatting intently. She peeked and was surprised to see Cypher looking away from the pair but holding Roulette's hand firmly. Wolfsbane raised her eyebrows but shrugged. There was a lot that she didn't know about Cypher. He met her eyes for a second before she looked down. He looked really upset. Maybe she should do something. She smiled at him and walked slower for a few seconds until she was next to Lorelei.
"Hey Lorelei!" she cried cheerfully. Wolfsbane cringed at the cold look Lorelei gave her as she turned to face her.:
"Sorry. Do I know you?" It was obvious that Lorelei wanted Wolfsbane to leave but she had to help Cypher.
She remebered the tortured look in Cypher's eyes. All he wanted was a few minutes alone with his boyfriend. Well, that's all he was getting anyway. Wolfsbane liked Cypher but certainly did not like Lorelei. She didn't really know her but she wasn't judging. Anyone that pretty can't be nice as well. That's just greedy. And why can't people judge books by their covers? People do all the time, they just don't like to admit it. If everybody sat around reading large portions of books before deciding whether they wanted to read the whole thing there would be crowded book stores and libraries. Covers enable the customer to quickly and easily pick up a book that they will enjoy. And avoid the one's that they won't. Unless the customers gay friend wants to read a different book but the book doesn't want to be put down. This is a rubbish metaphor. Lorelei's nothing like a book.
"I want to talk to you for a bit" She told her, tugging on Lorelei's arm. The beauty huffed and turned to say bye to Roulette but he wasn't paying attention. His face was glued to Cypher's. Lorelei let out a low growl before reluctantly following Wolfsbane. Cypher broke off the kiss to smile at her. Wolfsbane smiled back as he mouthed "thank you" before locking his jaw to Roulette's once more.
