"Sheesh. What are you two, joined at the hip?" Lila said with an amused expression, raising her eyebrow at Nat's arm around my waist as we entered the HUGE shopping mall that was our usual Friday venue. Lila, Shelley, Tina, Paul and I come here every Friday, to SHOP and SHOP and SHOP.
Okay, let me introduce my best friends, first.
Lila's the bossy, stubborn and bubbly one. She has a million-and-one boys chasing after her, but she doesn't want a boyfriend yet. She keeps saying that it'll kill her dancing spirit.
Shelley's the wacky, loyal, always-there-for-you type of friend. We've known each other since kindergarten and have been fighting over boys since then. Ha ha
Tina's the super fashion-conscious one. Being friends with her makes our shopping trips extra-fun. She has an extra sense that is dedicated to finding that perfect outfit for that perfect date.
And, finally, there's Paul. He's good-looking, tall, blond, shares Tina's fashion sense and a bit muscly since he works out... and he's also gay. But we're the only ones who know about it. It doesn't show, though. Aside from the carefully arranged hair and designer clothes, you couldn't tell. That was why he had to pretend that he had a girlfriend in Switzerland just so that his stalkers would stop coming up to him and ask him to sign their bras.
And then there's my boyfriend, Nat. He's tall, dark and handsome. Oh, and he's also sweet, thoughtful and he writes his own songs, which he constantly plays for me whenever he gets his hands on his Stratocaster.

"Guys, don't be such pah-tay poopers!" Paul said, tapping his credit card impatiently. "Let's shop!"
And with a flourish of his hand, he walked into a store.
"Come on, then." Shelley said, shaking her head in Paul's direction.

"So how was your very first shopping experience?" I asked Nat while we all sat down at our favorite Japanese restaurant, five hours later.
He grinned at the numerous shopping bags that we were towing and then said,
"Definitely the best. I never knew that hats could come in such a variety of colors, cuts, materials and styles." We all laughed.
Paul spent a good thirty minutes lecturing Nat on the importance of having a good hat to complement the outfit.
If I wasn't careful, Paul might turn Nat into a fashion nut like him. Ha ha.
