As Imani stepped into class she realized all eyes were on her, she was used to it but it felt odd this time around...
She went to greet her favorite math teacher Mr. Grant a 47 yr old man who saw her as a daughter hence why she was given the name teacher's pet she didn't care tho she welcomed the father figure for her dad died when she was 8. She turned to the desk only to find the principal sitting there with sad look on his face.

"Mr.Myer's?, what's wrong where is Mr. Grant? He never misses a class." Imani asked.
"I'm sorry Ms.Murray but Mr. Grant is not at school today and I'm afraid he won't be coming back at all, I was just starting to announce the news when you walked in so before I continue please take a seat." She turn furrowing her brows as she thought oh so that's why everyone was looking at me that way...why wouldn't Mr. Grant come back to school?.....
She was snapped out of her chain of thoughts when the principal called her name once more. Imani quickly sat down not wanting to draw any attention and also eager to hear the cause for this sudden announcement.

"Ok class" Mr. Myers began...
"As I said before your now former math teacher Mr. Grant will no longer be teaching you because he has been diagnosed with a disease suddenly and it is now taking a toll on him..."
Hurt.... That was the only thing that came to Imani's head as she heard those words. Her mind had blocked out everything else that fell from his mouth she was too flabbergasted. Why is it that everyone I truly love dies or gets sick? She thought.... Am I not allowed to have happiness? "Then you might as well take my mom too...my last bit of joy" She muttered lowly to no one.

The rest of the day for Imani was like drag, she couldn't even eat lunch sadly she doesn't have best friends like everyone else so she vented on herself. She thought about all the good times she had with her teacher and decided that she had to go and look for him either today or tomorrow after school.
Imani was too depressed by the time school was over and she didn't want to seem weak when facing Mr. Grant so she decided that tomorrow would be a better day.

After finally reaching home her mom, Angela did the usual of asking her how was school and realized that Imani's face looked puffy so she asked what's wrong. Imani started bursting in tears and decided to tell her mother the news. They were both close to her teacher so she on agreed on visiting him tomorrow as well she even allowed Imani to skip dinner.
Imani knew that no one would text her so she just plopped down on her bed and cried herself to sleep.
