The school tennis court was built to hold up to 100 people. That's pretty large for a lockal school.
But that's exactly what kept Jenn Anchors going. She loved every second of the sport. She loved it when the circular green ball came her way. When she hit it, all her stress would melt away and would be replaced by the magnificent roar of the croud.
"Go Jenn!"
"Yo're amazing!"

Her eyes focused and  sas the airborn ball. She aimed and gave a perfect shot, sending the ball past the other player. She missed, gaininh the 17 year old Jenn a point.
Like always , she could hear every individual voice of the proud croud yelling 'go!' or 'yes!'
But this time, she could make out something else.Another voice, same cheering.Different person.
She knew well who he was.
Ryan Scotts.
She could now hear him perfectly, even though he wasn't that big a tennis fan.In the corner of her eye, she could just bearely see him.His brown hair shining in the sunlight. His blue eyes like still water.
She could now make out another boy next to him.
She knew that this boy was Ryan's best friend , but that was about it.She didn't even know his name.
But even if she didn't , the other girls did.
Oliver Jackson.
Withoit fully realizing it,she was now staring at them.
"Anchors!"the coach said, causing her to tearn back and see her aponent picking up the ball. She looked at the green ball in her hands and forced herself to keep her eyes there.
This was it.If she scored a point now,she would win the game. The ball flew through the sky and, once again ,she hit it expertly. The ball traveled into her aponents racket, traveling back. The green smudge flew low and made it's way into the net.She smiled wide, her own voice mixing into the roar of the croud. She did it.She won.

After the match, when everyone cleared away, Jenn quicly made her way threw the empty school halls into the girls locker rooms. She quicly found her own locker, in which her clothes were that would replace her white skirt-and-shirt.
It was a pink shirt and jeans that only fitted to the knees. She also got some opened toe shoes. She always loked to feel the cold breeze against her bear feet after a match.
She went out, making her way down the hall.
She was bearely half way when, down another hall leading to a door, she saw Ryan. She quicly changed direction and headed to him.
"Hey,"she said,surprising him.He turned around.
"Hey,great match!"he said.
"Thanks,"she said. She couldn't hold it out anymore and laughed.
"What?!"he asked.
Before answering, she sgarted walking to the door.
"It's just...I know how much you actualy hate tennis."
She looked over to him.
"Thanks,"she said when they got outside. The sun was already setting and she felt the cold surround her.She turned and stared at him, his perfect features shining. Before she could do anything else, she heard a car. This specific car was a ford fiesta, and she knew who it was.
"Sorry, that's my mom.I gotta go,"she said alarmingly, and sneaked a quick kiss on his cheeck before walking away. She smiled on her way, she felt confident. After all,he was her boyfriend.

"Hey Mom,"she said, squeesing herself and her bags into the car.Her mother said nothing.
Jenn looked over to her.
"Did Dad  buy the groceries?Usualy you go"
"No,"shs finally said,coldly.
"You can't trust him with money, or he'll drink it all away,"she finished.
"Give it a chance Mom. He wíll get better"
"I hope so,"she said, putting her foot down on the peddal.
She was still upset, and with good reason. Scince her father lost his job as woodworker due to alchohol, her accountant mother was the only one working.
To break the silence, and hopefully the mood, Jenn let her hand wander to the radio. The urgent sounds flooded the car.
"...that the desease is under controll?"
"Well, we can't Mavis.I mean, 500 people are already infected..."
The turned down the sound.
"So it's still going around,"her mothers voice said.
"Yeah, if they don't get it under controll I don't know what'l happen"
The desease. It was getting worse and worse, she thaught. And it was terrible.
She just hoped.Hoped, like she did her entire life with an abusive father ,it would get better. It would just take time.

Authors note:
