Ch.2: The New Kid

Sorry guys it has been a while! Been busy with school and v-ball which is not b-ball season! I'm trying to get back in the mode of writing, lol. Hope you like it ;) I dedicated this chapter to overtheskies because she was our first real fan! Thanks so much!!

Looking at my schedule, I see I have geometry for my first subject. I have always hated math, I was never good at it, and I dreaded it, but I was always good with geometry, so hopefully this year will be better. I walked into homeroom and I couldn’t believe the boy I met in the hall was in this class. Standing there, I had my mouth open until Lily came up behind me and knocked me out of my trance. “What are you…” asked Lily, she seemed to stop in mid-sentence and I also caught her staring at the new kid and she looked mad. Waving my hand in front of her face, “Lily! Earth to Lily,” She looked at me with an apologetic look. “Sorry just a little shocked.”

We took our seats, and waited for our teacher, Mrs. Avery. To get in here, no matter what, she was always late. It was ok though, since I get to tell Lily about my dream. “Lily, I need to tell you this weird dream I had last night,” I was beginning to tell her when I looked over to where the new kid was sitting and noticed he was trying to listen in, so I whispered it instead. “Last night I was dreaming about running in the woods, and every time I looked back, all I saw was green eyes and couldn’t tell what or who I was chasing me.” “The dream finally ended when I came to a cliff and had to jump off.” She gave me a “deer caught in headlight’s look,” then she shook her head, “That’s weird, what do you think was chasing you?” I gave her a nervous laugh, “I don’t know, I haven’t thought about it, but it scared me when I woke up, because I accidently punched my mom.”

We sat there in silence, I was debating if I should tell her about the experience I had with the new kid. Making my decision I was about to tell her when Mrs. Avery walked in. “Sorry class, I’m late, I was busy doing something.” She looked around and noticed we had a new student this year. “As you probably noticed, we have a new student; it’s a surprise since we never get any new students.” She looked at the boy, “Mr. White would you like to introduce yourself to the class?” He cleared his throat and stood up, “Hey guys, my name is Ethan White and I’m 17, I have two brothers that come here and their name is Caleb and Brandon, I also have a sister named Katie but she goes to a university in South Carolina, and saying that, we came here from South Carolina.” “That’s about it.” He smiled and sat down. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I want to learn more about Ethan. “It’s nice to have you here Ethan and I hope you have a good time here in California.” Mrs. Avery smiled.

 “Okay guys how about we get started on math, and we’ll have a little extra free time to talk and introduce yourself to Ethan.” I tried to pay attention to Mrs. Avery talking about the octagons and stuff but I heard of it before so it’s easy, I had my full attention to Ethan. What was wrong with me, I shouldn’t like him after the way he treated me in the hall, but there is something about him that makes my heart beat faster. I continued to stare until I saw him look from the corner of his eye; I gasped to myself and saw his eyes, the exact same one that chased me in my dreams.

“Alright class, that’s all for now, since it’s the first day of school I’m not going to give out any homework.” Everyone let out their breath and started to talk, “Hello Ethan,” I heard a seductive voice saying; of course one of the slutty girls was the first one to introduce herself. While she stood there with her hip sticking out and her shirt pulled down as low as it could go. “My name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam for short,” she smiled and leaned against his desk. I couldn’t help but get jealous, I was about to get up and walk over, when I felt a hand touch my shoulder, “Come on Selena, you can talk to him later, what was it you were going to tell me, before Mrs. Avery walked in?” I looked at her a little weird, “How did you know I was going to say something else?” ‘Oh, well it looked like you were about to say something,” She looked at me and smiled. I told her about the little scene with me and Ethan in the hall, “That’s weird” was all she could say. “Lily, is something going on that you’re not telling me?” She just shook her head no, “I don’t believe you but I can wait when you are ready to tell me,” I smiled at her and she simply nodded.
