Michael ends up at home a short time later. The house is dark and quiet. Everyone has gone home for the day and he's considering never allowing them back inside again. He kicks off his shoes in the front foyer and trudges up the stairway to his bedroom. Every article of clothing, aside from his briefs, is discarded onto the bedroom floor before he crawls onto the bed. White sheets engulf his bare form as he pulls the duvet over his head like a shield, creating a little fort around himself.
He's unsure of how long he lays there, motionless and silent, before he decides to find his phone. He has to search around the bed a bit before he locates it and then pulls himself into an upright position with the duvet up to his chest.
He scrolls aimlessly through his Twitter feed, liking posts from some of his friends and reading through his mentions. There are dozens of posts from fans lined up on the screen and he takes the time to click like on a select few.
And then it happens.
As he swipes upward on the screen again a small icon catches his eye. The photo is of a pale blond boy wearing a flower crown atop his head and Michael doesn't believe what he's seeing. It's surely not whom he believes it to be, what are the chances? He quickly taps the icon and the mystery boy's profile fills the screen. It's definitely him, he's sure of it now that the photo is a bit bigger. He would recognize Luke anywhere.
Michael hesitates for a moment. His thumb hovering over the follow button a little longer than necessary before he presses down. There is no going back now.
It takes a little time, but it happens within the hour. Michael is preoccupied with scrolling through Luke's feed and all of his photos, ogling over just how gorgeous this boy truly is, when the notification drops down from the top of the screen.
Luke has followed him back.
Michael wonders what he should do next. He considers tweeting him, but that's far too public. It's bound to raise suspicion and that's the last thing that Michael wants to happen. He doesn't want to drag Luke into his world, into all of the meaningless games that surround him. He then considers sending a direct message, it's much more private, but is it weird for him to do so? The pair have spent so little time together, they are still practically strangers.
But then another notification is dropping down from the top of the screen. A simple little message that leaves Michael's heart racing and his thoughts jumbled.
did you seriously just follow me? that's how we're doing this?
