"Didn't I tell you to stop sneaking up behind me?"
The small but powerful voice that escaped this tall lengthy creature was not one that you'd so be afraid of, but you should be afraid.
"I didn't mean to scare you Rayne."
Now this voice, this voice was beautiful. This voice was full of life and it washed over you with a feeling of peace, but there was something lingering there. Something sad."You never scare me Cas, I'm the one that scares you." She laughed a laugh that was pleasant but would turn your hairs on end. "How was your day?" She finally turned to greet the small stone-like creature.
Turning up the corners of her lips ever so slightly as so her two small fangs would barely appear."Boring. Watching over humans. Taking orders from the big man.." Cas shrunk, more than you already thought their small figure could.
Rayne became irritated, her once grey eyes now a slight shade of red. "You mean God?!" She practically spit it. "I don't know why you haven't ran away from that place yet."
"You know I can't," she replied quietly, taking the tall girls hand in hers, tracing the lines and battle scars on her palms. "Besides, God doesn't hate you. I promise," she paused, "he loves all his creatures.."
Rayne scoffed in disbelief as she took her hand from Cas and sliding it across their cheek. "You know that's not true, angel. He hates the vampires. I mean," she squeezed her eyes shut and looked away, as if trying not to cry, "you'd think that if he created us he'd actually love us. Maybe let us live in heaven with the Angels. But that's just it, he doesn't! Why else would the whole world think of us as demons. Why else would he cast us to earth to live amongst humans?"
A single tear now fell but she quickly wiped it away.
Tough. You have to be tough."Oh Rayne I'm so sorry I've upset you.. You feel everything so deeply and I feel nothing at all.."
They took the vampires hand once more and walked to the edge of the cliff, "look," Cas took Rayne's chin in their hand and ushered her up to look. "Look at the humans down there. You're the reason they're here. Vampires keep the balance." They smiled and looked up at their tall friend, who was rolling her eyes.
"You are death. The grim reaper, if you will. Your whole kind is! You take away life so that the humans can bring it. And once they're dead, I greet them at the gates-""And welcome them to an eternity with their loved ones. The great white kingdom in the clouds!" Rayne had immediately cut them off and began walking away.
"I need to eat, you coming with me angel?"
