"Wake up!" A loud slap is heard through the room and about half the class jumps out of there seats. I lean my head on my hand and stare blankly at Ms. Withers. "Now that I have everyone's attention... This new project-"
The class collectively groans and heads slam on desks, including mine. "Oh hush, a little work isn't gonna kill you. Now as I was saying this project will be on a historical landmark of the city," I sit up a little straighter in my seat, instantly intrigued.
I hear my friend Louis snort behind, clearly amused by my reaction. I just subtly give him the middle finger and bring my attention back to the teacher. "You have to provide me hard hitting facts and pictures etc. anything you think is important." The bell rings signaling that school is over. "Goodbye and remember do the project!"
I quickly scoop up my stuff and practically sprint out the door.
"Lucy!" Someone calls me.
"Lucy Anne Connors get your ass over here!" I spin around and scowl at Louis.
"What?" He jogs over to me.
"I know what your thinking and I'm saying no," I smirked at my best friend. Like what he said is going to change my mind.
He's funny.
"Since when have you decided things for me? And since when have I ever listened to your decisions?" He put his hand on his hip and gave me that 'I know what's best' look. He looked creepily like my mother. I shivered at the thought. He just gave me a look and dragged me to my locker.
"Just please don't do it. You know the stories Lucy," I just rolled my eyes and proceeded to put my books away. "You know whoever goes out there, whoever gets to curious, never comes back out alive." I sigh and turn around to face him.
"It was sad what happened to Josh Louis I know. But first he was 13 and stupid. And second they ruled it as a wild animal attack, not a murder." Louis just looked at me sadly. I don't know why he never let it go. It's like he saw it happen and he keeps reliving it. Like survivors remorse.
"Ever since that game of hide and go seek in 8th grade you've been transfixed on Styles Manor, Lucy. Why?" He seemed more curious than angry or upset.
"I don't know Louis, just something about intrigues me. It draws me in. I've got cheerleading talk to you later Louis," I grabbed my duffel bag and walked away. I made the turns and walked down the hallways that are so familiar now that I could walk them blindfolded.
Pushing the gym doors open I'm met by the smell of sweat and desperation.
And the loud voice of Coach Morris.
"Connors!" Fuck me.
"Yes coach?" I cringe as she walks closer. She smells like men's cologne and ass.
I heard she's been fucking the star quarterback, Chris.
No wonder she smells like ass.
"Your 5 minutes late!" You don't have to yell. Or spit. And please get your boobs back in your shirt.
"Women issues mam'" I smile sweetly. She just rolls her eyes at me and tells me to warm up.
I get on the ground and start stretching my legs out. Reaching from one side to the other.
"Lulu, need a ride home?" I look up and scowl at Liam. He's been my neighbor since I was little. And that unfortunately is the reason for my nickname. It was cute at first now it's just plain annoying.
"You know I don't like that nickname," I glared at him.
"You loved it when you were five!" He counters.
