I sit in the front row. The casket is five feet away, containing Petunia Kay King. There she lays, her last destination. There she is, just gone. She'll have relatives, and family friends come by her and pay their respects to her. No one really cared about Petunia. That little saying "famous in life and death" was such bullshit. No one took time for her, not even me.
The social workers, and the lawyers haven't came to an agreement on what to do with me. The lawyers are working on the remains to Aunt Petunia's fortune. They told me I couldn't enhance anything till I was 18. So, I'm left with nothing. The social workers are figuring out who the lucky relative is, who wants to take me in.
It's been really rough not having any parents. My dad skipped out on my mom. For a younger and more improved wife. My mom just kinda vanished. Like a leaf, one second it was there, next it wasn't. Last I've heard about mom is that she's got some high tech job. Dad has tried contacting me. He once tried to get me to go to his wife's birthday dinner. Like, no thank ya. I get that he's trying to get to know me, but I don't wanna be his charity case. He can't just worm his way back into my life, he had his chance to be involved in my life.
The morticians have already started clearing the room. They inform me that I have 10 minutes before they take Petunia out back. I slowly gather all my feelings. I walk steadily over to the casket, where the only person who's truly loved me lies. She looks bitter. Like all of the brightness has been drained from the sun. She's just empty. I feel the tears sprain down my face, like a waterfall. What's the point in crying? Nothing can change this. She's dead. Gone. She's floating in oblivion. She's a lost soul. I will always miss her. She was the only person who wanted me. Who'll want a damaged soul like myself now? I watch as they take Petunia Kay King's last remains out the door. All I can ever do is keep the memories in my mind. No matter what happens to me.
