Good to bad (book 3) {Series Completed}

Chapter 23

When I woke up Matt was gone. He left a note on my TV.

" I took Shane to get him enrolled into our school. I love you and have a good day." I ripped the note off of the screen and folded it carefully then put it into my drawer.

I got dressed for the day and then while I grabbed my keys to head to work my phone rang.

" Hello? Is this Ally Peirce? We have a trail for a man named Chris today and the jury decided you needed to testify. We apologize for the inconvenience and the short notice but if you could be at the city court house at 11 that would be great!"

I looked at the clock and it said 9:30. Giving me just barely enough time to get there at exactly 11.

When I walked in everybody turned and stared me down while I did the walk of shame to my seat.

" I call Ally Peirce to the stand." One of the attorneys said after 2 hours of bordem. I stood up and walked to the stand. They made me take an oath to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing BUT the truth.

I had to place my left hand on the bible and take the oath. I kept glancing down at it to insure it wasn't burning from my sinister skin touching it.

"Mrs. Peirce... Is it true you and the suspect have been a couple at one point?"

"Yes. For 11 hours at the very most sir." I said nodding.

" So then you broke up with him at your school lunch and he.... Slammed your head against the lunch table. I have the medical records right here your honor." He said placing the records on the space in front of the judge. The judge read over them while the attorney continued.

" Mrs. Peirce. We have a documented police report here with your adress on it. It claims physical assault. Is this the only time Chris has done this to you since the date of your birthday?" I almost started to cry.

" No. Sir, Just two nights ago he broke into my house and chased me around. He pinned me down on the ground and removed my pants. I started to pass out because Chris was choking me because I had, in self defense, kicked him in the groin. And he... Well he r.. Raped me." I looked at Chris and he was crying. His face was torn up and his eye was black. The jury gasped and I looked over at them.

"No further questions your honor." The attorney walked away from the stand. And sat in his chair at the table across from Chris. Chris's attorney approached me now.

" Mrs. Peirce if you were indeed passed out how do you know he raped you?"

" Because, sir, I felt his discussing body inside of mine."

"No further questions." The attorney frowned and slowly walked back to his seat. The judge slammed his hammer thing and then the jury went away for the voting. At least they let me go sit back in my chair next to the first attorney.

"ORDER! ORDER IB THE COURT!" the judge hit his mallot on the flat surface. " The jury have decided. And we have ruled the defendant.... Guilty to be sentenced to 5 years in prison and 2 years home arrest. All rise as the criminal leaves the room to his fate."

I stood up and watched as Chris hung his head and walked past. He stopped in his tracks and pushed the officers off of him. He sprinted towards me and wrapped his handcuffs around my neck. I was trying to get them off when my sleeve fell. Only Chris noticed. And when he did he started to laugh. I pulled my sleeve down and waited for him to leave the room. As soon as he did I headed for my car and drove home.
