Lauren's POV
What to do, I thought to myself. Both of my parents were out for their business. Luckily they make a lot of money so they leave behind a heap of cash whenever they leave. I will be heading into my last year of high school in a few days and here I am doing nothing. I usually spend my time with Brooke, my best friend, but she's in Paris visiting her grandparents. I was alone most of this summer, mainly exercising and watching movies so it was alright. I have a lot of friends, but I don't spend much time with them outside as I do during school.
My uncle owns a restaurant a few miles from my house so I decided to go there tonight. As I entered the restaurant I saw him talking to a few workers. It seemed like a busy night than usual.
"Hey Uncle Drew!"
"Hey Lauren! Sorry, we're pretty busy today so I have to go. But you can eat or drink whatever you want!" saying that he disappeared into the dining hall. I went over to the bar as it wasn't too crowded.
I ordered a drink since I wasn't hungry.
Looking at my drink, I gulped it down at once. Gosh it burned like hell through my throat.
I started coughing when someone came up behind me.
"You alright?" she asked.
I turned around and my coughs suddenly stopped.
She was tall with everything the word "perfect" looks for. Her long blonde hair covered her shoulders while her warm brown eyes made my stomach do summersaults.
"Do you mind if I sit with you?" she asked.
"Uh, sure." I said looking down as I tried to calm my blushing face.
"I'll have a tropical cocktail," she said to the bar tender sitting down.
"So, why are you drinking here?" she asked.
"Well I'm going back to school in a few days so I'm here trying to get ready."
"By drinking?"
I nodded.
"I think I understand how you feel."
I felt myself burning up as I saw how beautiful her smile was.
"You do?"
"Yeah, I got my first teaching job and I'll be going in a few days too."
"Haha looks like school has students and teachers drinking for their first day." Then I realized what she had just said. "Wait, you look too young to be a teacher and with your looks the class wouldn't be able to focus." Woah, what did I just say?
"I'm 22 so I guess I am pretty young. Not too brag but I'm pretty smart and come from a family full of doctors." she smiled. "Are you saying that I'm pretty?" she seemed closer to me then before (or was I just nervous?)
"Y-yeah, you are I think."
"You think?" she started to laugh. Wow how could laughter sound so...nice?
We ended up talking for a bit and after a few drinks I realized I was getting a bit drunk.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" I asked.
"No haha do you?"
"Nope."
"Girlfriend?" she asked.
"No. Um never did actually." I think I saw a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
"Do you?" I asked.
"Nope! I did a while back though."
"Oh."
"Totally forgot to introduce myself. My name is Chloe, Chloe Montgomery."
"Oh yeah. My name is Lauren, Lauren Robertson."
It seemed we didn't have anything to say after our introduction, so I decided to go outside for some air. It was getting a bit too crowded in here.
"There's a really nice lake behind the restaurant, want to come?" I asked.
....
As we went toward the lake, I could feel her eyes on me. I felt myself heating up again as I actually liked it. She was the first girl- or person- to make me feel this way. I've only dated guys, but for some reason they didn't make me feel that spark she was giving off. When we reached the lake, I turned around to face her. The bright, night sky showed me how beautiful she is. Her eyes were the most alluring, causing me to feel nervous and look somewhere else.
"I didn't know this here. It's very nice."
"My Uncle owns the restaurant so I come here often." I shrugged.
I bent down to show her the cute fishes that lived here. "If you look down here, there's a lot of fi-"
I couldn't finish because I was about to slip into the water when strong arms held me tight.
"Be careful silly" she grinned.
I saw how close we were and I looked straight into her eyes. I'm not good at keeping long eye contact, but my eyes were glued to hers. Her warm brown eyes were making me focus only her on. She slowly came toward my lips but stopped. I looked at her lips and saw how soft they looked. I don't know what came over me, but I leaned in and place my lips onto hers. I felt her freeze, but she quickly started to kiss me. Our lips began to move as if they were dancing. I mean, if lips had dancing contests, ours would probably get first place.
I forgot we were on the edge of the lake, so when I took a step back to maintain my weak legs, we fell right in.
