I reached toward the other side of the bed where Mother was laying. The bed was cold over there. I realized that I was alone. Where did Mother go? I thought. Just then the room filled with the smell of bacon and eggs. She's probably making breakfast.

Kaitlynn came into the room and stood by the door. She waited for me to notice her for about five minutes, then finally kneeled down by me on the bed. Her face was right in mine.

"Kaitlynn can you please move?" I complained "Like, move out of this room?"

Kaitlynn giggled then answered, "How about... No." She had a bratty look on her face.

"Just go away!" I threw a pillow at her.

"Well dang miss grouchy pants." Kaitlynn mumbled to herself. "I was just going to tell you that I made breakfast, for you."

I opened my eyes and saw Kaitlynn by the door now. "Okay, I'll be up in a few. Just give me a second."

"Sure. But, why are you in Mother's room?" she chuckled "You're 14 years old. Kinda silly of you huh?" She nagged.

"Kaitlynn shut up. You don't even know why I'm laying in here now do you?" I argued.

Kaitlynn rolled her eyes. Since she got in middle school, she has been acting like a a spoiled brat. Since all her new friends act like that too. "Well, whatever." she replied "Just hurry up." She ran out of the room and into the kitchen.

I got up slowly, and put on my white slippers that were right next to the bed. I scuffed my feet on the wooden floor which made a sound like nails being dragged acrossed a chalkboard.

Kaitlynn snickered, "Well look who finally showed up."

"It only took me 2 minutes to get up and in here?" I told her.

"More like 2 times 10. We had to wait FOREVER and I thought I was going to die!" She complained. Then mom nudged her on the shoulder giving her a signal that she was being too dramatic again.

"Kaitlynn quit acting like that." said mother narrowing her eyes at her.

"Acting like what?" asked Kaitlynn "Acting like me?"

"Acting like a Jayla." I snapped. Jayla is Kaitlynn's new best friend. They just met this year in 6th grade. Kaitlynn thinks she needs to act like Jayla to get attention from people. But really it's just straight out annoying.

"I am not acting like Jayla!" she whined, and threw her fists down.

"Yep. Okay Jayla." I smirked.

"Stop that!" Kaitlynn pouted.

I rolled my eyes, then puckered my lips to the side. Now, she's pouting. "Well only if you stop-"

Kaitlynn cut me off with a scream of anger. I now could tell, that she has had enough of my nagging. "Ugh! I'm going to my room... And I am not coming back out until you apologize!" She stormed out of the room in a flash. She ran up the stairs and into her pale pink bedroom. Kaitlynn slammed her door so hard that almost the whole house shook.

My eyes darted towards to wooden floor. I bit my lip nervously, and held my hands behind my back. Mother was mad at the both of us, I could tell. I slowly lifted my eyes back up to see Mother. She stood there in the middle of the kitchen with the plates for the three of us in her hands and didn't move. I knew that stance-- shoulders back, hands straight down by her sides... She was angry. I turned my head quickly to my shoulder to end the awkward stare between us two.

I cleared my throat with a cough, breaking the silence that filled the room. "So uh..." I moved the blond extra strand of hair from out of my eyes back to its normal spot. "What's for breakfast?" my voice cracked from nervousness.

Mother shook her head. I heard a clink of a plate being set down on the table in the middle of the dining room. I didn't dare look up at Mother, for fear of catching the angered glare of her's. "The food is on the oven." ended Mother as she set the rest of the plates down on the table, and trudged up the stairs and into Kaitlynn's room.

I sighed in defeat, then looked back up at the empty plate that Mother had left me on the table. I unfolded my hands then grabbed the plate to get some food. On top of the oven, Kaitlynn had made blueberry pancakes, sausage, and eggs for the three of us; but now the once warm breakfast had turned cold from the wait of arguing.

I ripped a piece off of the pancake and chewed it slowly. My stomach churned. I had lost my appetite. I never felt well after a fight with my Mother and Kaitlynn. Especially one like this-- silent, awkward... It's just not right. And It's all my fault. I know that Jayla is Kaitlynn's one and only friend; so I shouldn't mess with that.

I rushed upstairs to apologize to my sister.
