BEEEEEEEP!!!!! "We're losing her! Hurry damn it hurry!" Dr Yale was yelling over the beeping machines. I was drifting in and out of consciousness. This was the day I was supposed to be released, but it seemed to be going the opposite way. The cart was rolled into a room that smelled of antiseptic and sweat. A new voice asked "what's the problem doctor?" I heard Dr Yale say something about pulmonary embolism, whatever that was. Where's Garrett? Where's Michael? What's happening? And then everything went black. When I woke up I was in another room. My chest was throbbing and I was so tired. The clipboard next to my bed said I needed anticoagulant therapy. Soon a pretty nurse came through the doorway to give me some painkillers. She wouldn't tell me anything that had happened except for something had happened with my heart. It had collapsed or something I don't know. "Will the baby be ok?" The nurse didn't know the answer to that. Soon a tall doctor came into the room, "Aight Mrs Jonas, you've been through a lot today so I'm just gonna give you some drugs and then I want you to sleep the shit out of yerself." He spoke with an annoying southern accent but I really didn't care. After I had swallowed the small pills I soon fell fast asleep.
I had no idea how long it had been when I awoke, but Garrett was sitting in a chair close to me. His hair was messy and his usually best clothes were wrinkled. "You're awake. I waited for two days." "Where's Mikey??" I sat up straight in bed and immediately there was a painful sting in my chest. "Woah there, slow down" My (technically) husband gently pushed me back down. I instinctively closed my hands around the bump on my stomach. The pretty nurse from before entered the room, "Well, now that you're awake, I'll introduce myself. I'm Jenny Krimp. I'll be your nurse while you're on the drugs." I nodded. I'm so hungry. When will I be able to eat? As if she was reading my thoughts, Nurse Krimp suggested a snack. I was put in a wheelchair and Garrett trailed along beside us down to the hospital cafeteria. As we were walking, Krimp said she'd rather have me call her Jenny. The pain in my chest was almost unrecognizable.
The therapy started that day, soon after eating. Garrett left to take Mikey from the babysitter's.
