I then hung up and sighed at my partner. I swear sometimes I just wanna quit the forces and go home but I won't due to the fact that I get paid real good and I love my job.
I drove to back to headquarters and walked into the building. So much for my time off today I guess.
When I got to the third floor of the building, I saw chief in the board meeting talking to other agents. I quietly slipped inside and stood by the wall next to Denise, my partner.
Denise : *whispers* What took you? He started 20 minutes ago.
Me : *whispers back* I thought this was my day off but I guess not. *Looks at her then at the chief*
Chief : The only witness who still alive from the killing of Dominique Johnson is Victoria Hernandez aka Tori.
They showed a picture of Victoria on the screen behind the chief. She was cute. Looked familiar too. I just don't know where.
Chief : 21 years old. Married. Work is undefined.
Hmm seems like a nice girl. Pretty too like I said.
Chief : According to the police department, they said that Tori told them that Ronnie Watson indeed killed Johnson. They want us to send a few agents down and be on the look out for Tori and her family.
This really what they called me for? To be on babysitting duty?
Me ; *raises my hand* Um sir.... Witness protection looks after families who are in danger. Why CPD ( California Police Department ) can't call them?
Chief : Because Ronnie is so smart for an old geezer that he knows where every witness program is. He'll send his goons to them so they can easily raid the places and kill Tori. That's why they called us instead of witness protection..
I nodded and he continued.
Chief : Now the people I've chosen for this are *checks his list* Jones & Thompson, Hayes & Holmes, Kelly & Deer, Frost & Higgins, Stewart & Dawson .....
Who and Dawson!? I choked on my own air and coughed a bit. Sean patted my back and I caught myself.
Chief : And lastly Barnes & Harris. I put a folder of Tori and her family along with her close friends that she be With most of the time in your boxes. Now note the majority went to jail at least once. And..... Their background is.... exquisite. Be careful and don't let them know what's happening. This meeting is adjourned.
Everyone got up and started talking about the case of who is going and all. I walked over to the chief and cleated my throat to get his attention.
Me : Sir... With all do respect, why am I on this case?
Chief : Because you're one of my best Agents. Along with your partner Denise. Besides she volunteered you both to it. I'm so glad you came and joined even if it was your day off Stewart. Proud of you.
He then left and went to his office. My mouth was hung open in shock. I turned towards Denise and she gave me a small smile.
Me : You WHAT! ?
Denise : Payback's a bitch ain't it. You're welcome.
I paused and thought on what she said. She better be lucky as HELL she fine and I care about her.

I was laying down on the couch watching TV. Tori was laying on top of me basically pinning me down knocked out. I caressed her cheek while she slept and then ran my fingers through her messy hair. That's how she fell asleep anyway. *laughs*
