Some peacekeepers sowed me into a room in the justice building. There was a red velvet couch in the corner and nothing else.

A few minutes later the door opened and my mum and dad came running in. I ran up to them and we all started hugging. This lasted about five minutes then we all sat down. They kept saying all this stuff about missing me and that they would be praying for me but I knew I would never win. There has only ever been 2 winners in district twelve.

Then the peace keepers barged in at took my mother and father out. I could here them crying outside the door.

I heard the door open again, looked up and saw it was Martha. Martha is my best friend. She has always been there for me through thick and thin.

She came and sat down next to me and put something in my hand. It was a bracelet. I asked her where she got it and she told me it was her mothers. We both stood up and hugged each other then she left.

When I got on the train I was mind blown.

It was the fanciest thing I had ever seen. There were huge buffets and all the furniture was stunning. Effie led me into my room and it was the same. I had never seen anything like it. Painting on the walls and a bathroom in each room.

At home we didn't have a bathroom at all. Our house only had two rooms because I lived in the seam the poorest part of district 12.

My mum washed people clothes for money, and my dad worked in the coal mines. I had a goat. I sold cheese and milk from it. It kept us alive.

For the next two weeks everything will be different. I will have everything I want but then after I will have nothing.
