Steve Jinks wiped his sweaty palms on his jeans as he waited at the counter at the jewelry store. Could he do this? Was he basing his feelings on a mere infatuation or was it really love?
Finally the ringing had stopped and Joshua Donovan said "Hey it's Josh."
"Hey, uh, it's Steve. Steve Jinks." "Oh hey! What's up?" Steve tried to swallow the knot back down and he replied "I have a question to ask you.
Uh, geez, I'm so nervous." "Hey man it's okay, I'm not gonna bite, just take a breath and spit it out." "I've called because I want to ask you if I can marry Claudia." There was silence on both ends for a minute. Then Josh said "Listen Steve, Claudia has had a very hard childhood and a very hard adolescence. She's fragile emotionally and I love her more than anything in the world. All we have is eachother, that's it, there's no one else. But, Claudia speaks very fondly of you. She gushes over how you care for her. My question to you is, when things get tough, are you in it for the long haul or will you dash as soon as you have an argument?" Steve answered "I would die for Claudia again, I know that not every relationship is perfect or smooth sailing, but I am a firm believer in working things out. There just might be some things that we will have to agree to disagree on. Claudia is the most important person to me." He could hear Joshua shift and breath into the phone. "Okay Steve, permission granted. And you have my blessing. Take care of my baby sister, she's my everything." Steve smiles and silently exhaled "I will, thank you!"
"I have to get back to class, text me and let me know how it goes."
"Will do."
The call ended. Steve picked up the diamond ring and handed it to the lady behind the counter "I'll take this one".......
