A never ending Mission

Baby just say yes...

Claudia opened the door and entered the B&B. "Hey! I'm home! False alarm! The library wasn't whammied after all, it was just some punk messing with a drug store chemistry set!" She had plodded up the stairs and into her room. She stopped with her jaw dropping. On her bed was a black sequined dress, matching heels, a cream shawl and a note "Put this on and meet me downstairs at 5. Steve"
Claudia pondered, what had Steve planned? And was she going to regret putting that dress on? She never wore dresses unless it was a wedding, funeral, or if she was going to a casino.
She cracked a smile. Their relationship had gotten pretty serious in the last year, they'd gone from just co-workers to friends, to best friends, to weirdly attracted to eachother, to dating. The others had caught on to their relationship long before and were ecstatic for them. But lately Steve had been acting stranger than usual, he avoided her and acted like he was in a rush all the time.

5:00 came. Claudia put the last touches of mascara on and twisted the cap back on.
She grabbed a sweater and turned off the light to her room, shutting the door behind her.
As she made her way down the stairwell she saw Steve waiting at the bottom in a suit. And for someone who had worn a suit maybe twice in his whole life, he looked pretty dashing.
"You look beautiful tonight miss Donovan." He said, taking her hand and smiling.
"As do you mister Jinks. Would you mind telling me where we're going?"
"It's a surprise! You'll see it when we get there."
They drove 45 minutes to featherville, to Claudia's favorite restaurant 'Ye Olde Steak and wine house'.
As they were eating, unbeknownst to Claudia there were video cameras being set up behind some fake shrubs to capture a magical moment that would be happening soon.
Suddenly Claudia's phone lit up with 'Josh' trying to FaceTime her.
"Hey Josh what's up?"
"Just wanted to tell you that I'm coming home for thanksgiving. You look amazing by the way."
"Aww thanks. Steve is being all mister mysterious and we're actually out at dinner."
"Yeah I know. Steve told me. Didn't you Steve?" Claudia propped the phone up so they both could see Josh.
"Yeah I did. Um, Claude. Do you know how special you are to me?" "Um yeah you tell me about 150 times a day"
"Well, I mean it. You are a special girl. I can't imagine spending the rest of my crazy life with anyone else..." At this point Josh had his hand clamped over his mouth to keep from grinning and ruining the surprise. Steve slid out of his chair, got down on one knee and said "Claudia Donovan will you marry me?" He took out the ring, Claudia's jaw dropped. Her mind was going a mile a minute. Was she really in love with Steve? Was just another crush like Todd and Fargo had been? Could she make him happy? Then all doubt was whisked away when she heard herself say "Yes!" Steve put the ring on her finger and jumped to his feet, Joshua finally let out his joy, there were tears, there was laughter, there was hugging. Then there was an amazing kiss, and one thought was going through both of their heads
