Sweet Escape ~ TEASER
"I wonder if I should drop out of school," I heard him whispered, kicking a newly-found can. My head whipped to face him as I was trying to search for any signs of give away that he was only kidding around. But much to my dismay, I found nothing.
Drop out of school? That's absurd!
"Yo-you can't j-just drop out like that!"
If he wouldn't be around, their group wouldn't be the same having one important member gone. What would the rest say, and how would they react about this?
"Yeah, I knew you would say that." I heard him say, a smirk tugging on his sentence. I felt my face scrunched and was pretty much sure there were lines visible on my forehead, "Wh-what?"
"I was joking," A flash of amusement crossed his emerald eyes as he stared at me knowingly. He brought his hand and ruffled my hair, laughing. He looked at me with a sincere smile etched on his perfectly chiseled face, "I can't just leave without 'fessing up my feelings to the girl I like."
He continued walking while I stared at his retrieving back. He has feelings towards a certain someone? Wow, what a slap in the face. I knew I just had to cover everything up, I had no chance with this stupid emotions of mine. I took a sharp breath before waddling next to him, and the only thing I could do for now, was bug him about it.
Besides, once I met the girl he liked, I would definitely give her a warming welcome. I wonder how much Hydrochloric acids cost?
"Yiee, he likes someone. Who is she, is she hot or is she cool?"
"Hot or cool? You're kidding right?" he laughed, bumping shoulders with mine. Even with his leather jacket, I could still feel the electric shot jolting with happiness. With this small connection, I felt happy.
"Oh, come on. Tell me, I want to be the first one to know!" I pleaded, returning the bump but this time using my hip bone. His pace slowed and matched mine. Since he had long strides, I had to mimic his.
He let out a deep sigh, his minty breath washing my pale face. Hands stuffed inside his dark washed jeans' pocket, he stared down at me. His emerald orbs battling with my own blue ones. Right there, I had wished I could read people's mind. There were no signs of what he was feeling, just his mysterious posture which I had fallen in love with.
"You really don't know anything, do you?" his voice was slightly husky due to the cold temperature outside.
"Huh?"
And for the last time of that night, he laughed his oh-so-amazing laugh right in front of me. Although, there was something I had pointed out. His laugh was nothing but unusual, it was far from his joyful tone. There was something hidden behind that laugh.
"Nothing, get inside, you're going to catch a cold. Night, mushroom."
I pushed all the doubts to the back of my mind as I tried to ponder what he just called me.
Mushroom.
For some reason, I love it when he addressed me as a fungus.
