In short, the Mandela Effect is a conspiracy theory that we fairly recently went into a parallel universe (one almost exactly the same as ours).
I heard about it during the holidays when I heard someone mention a "chartreuse" drink. I thought that was interesting, so I looked it up. Chartreuse is actually a yellow-green color named after a drink. Most people mistake it for a rose or dark pink color.
Now, me, having the skeptical traits that I do, questioned this. I know a lot of words that remind me of colors the aren't. So, I decided to try a little experiment. Asking around, I discovered that my own family didn't recognize the color as anything but pink. Too many people thought this for it to be just a mistake.
Another think that freaked me out was when I searched the color on Google. Not one pink picture. Not even one. At least one person had to have made a mistake and gotten a picture of a rose-colored something on Google images, right?
Efficiently terrified, I found some other examples of this same phenomenon:
Is it Bearenstein Bears, or Berenstain Bears?
Does Curious George have a tail or not?
Did Nelson Mandela die in prison?
There are so many other examples you can look up if you want to.
Anyway, I wrote this short story because I thought it was an interesting theory that could have actually happened. If you think about it, you may find little things in your life that don't seem to have happened the way you remember them.
OK, I'll let you read.
