"Mom!"
"What is it, Arianna? I'm at work."
"Come pick up Charlie and I up."
"Ugh. Can't you ride home with Amelia?"
"No. I- can't explain. Just get here."
My mom covered the receiver. I heard her in the background, laughing maniacally at someone's joke. I know she had heard me, so we had about twenty minutes.
I ran to collect Charlie, terrified of seeing the girl again. He was about twenty feet away, rolling around in the grass with Parker.
Suddenly, I couldn't think. I couldn't breathe. My feet failed me and I crumpled to the ground. It felt as if a computer virus had taken over my body. I called for Charlie. No noise emerged. I could feel a presence getting closer. My mind became fuzzy, my brain dead.
The girl stared at me and came closer. She was back.
I felt like I was dead.
I screamed my throat dry, and tried to break the paralysis holding my limbs to the ground. I snapped inside.
Can't move
Can't breathe
Stuck.
Where'd she go?
Who's that
Can't see
I'm
Can't
I'm gone.
